My Mom has a cat who eats only dry food and will starve if he doesn't get it. I have a female who had a case of hipadic lipidosis (sp) years ago who switched herself over to just dry food even though wet is available.

How harmfull is an all dry diet? Her boy eats, and has eaten for years, 9Lives Urinary Tract Health (even though he's altered) and my kits are on the Friskies Feline Favorites (that group and the "outsiders" were on Special Kitty).

Thanks!
Chrissy

MANY many cats have lived long lives on dry food ... is it the best , NO IMHO but I dont always do what is best for me...

IMHO a good moderate protein and fat food would be best for a all dry eater .... Nine lives is IMHO like junk food for humans and friskies is also there ...

Are you both limited to the grocery store??

For me it's because I feed so many cats that I have to budget. We moved this group up from Special Kitty to the Friskies and I plan to try and get them up to Purinia if possible. But that's as far as my budget goes. We do have "special needs" cats who get fed Chicken Soup and I guess that would be better for our all dry girl?

As for my Mom, yea, she's pretty much limited to the grocery store and Walmarts. I'm trying to get her to start buying Purina but so far I've had no luck.

Thanks Sharky.

I'll move Boo up here to this group so she can have the Chicken Soup. I'll work on Mom to switch to the Purina Naturals for her boy and move Boo's (soon to be former) group over to the Naturals, too.

You can shove tuna under Alley's nose and she will not touch it! I freely feed both my two adult cats dry food all day. Persi will at least come around and beg for treats but Alley does not even want treats! Both are very healthy. I have also started my new kitty off on the same kind of diet. The only problem now is that the kitty wants the cat food and Persi wants to gobble down all the kitty food.

Do you have access to a Costco? The big bags of their Kirkland premium cat food have pretty good ingredients.

Yes,what can you do when the cat is eating kitten food and the kitten
is eating cat food....is it okay to just give kitten food? or is it maybe
best to mix the two together????
