FBI reopens case on DB Cooper...

Let's face it the man has become a folk hero. Part of me is glad they are reopening the case. Perhaps we can finally get some closure about what happened to him, or at the very least find his body.

the case has never been closed,,
they charged him under john doe or something like that.
That way they can keep the case open for as long as they want.
anyway that is what the radio show i listend to the other day said.

At this point I think the FBI is allowing armatures to go up to Washington to trace the river back to see if they can find his body, or more of the money.

I've never heard of him.

However, I don't really see the point of pursuing the case. The guy jumped from a passanger airplane and is dead. IMHO who he really was really doesn't matter 36 years later. If he had family that missed him they would have filed a missing person's report. Apparently no one missed him.

Those of us who lived in the area way back when still remember, and are extremely curious as to exactly what happened to him, and the money.

I'm pretty sure he's dead, jumping from jets is not at all safe, but it really would be cool to get some closure.

That is a fascinating case, and what is even more fascinating is why they are still pursuing him after all those years.

He didn't die in the jump. He is alive and well.

You think so? Part of me wants to think that he's living in Mexico off the money he stole living the high life. Part of me things that he died in the jump.

What makes you think he's still alive? (Please take the tone of that as a friendly question, and not snarky)

I had never heard of DB Cooper until I worked on an MRI machine that had software written by Stamford graduate students. All the programs that ran in the background were named after people. The clean up program was DB Cooper.

I don't have an opinion on whether he's dead or alive, but his name always males me smile: we spent our wedding night in a B&B, and watched a docu on the History Channel about him. We always joke that it was our usual, boring Saturday night, sitting around watching the History Channel! (and it wasn't very romantic, either--I had a migraine, after having to clean up my own wedding reception [the hired help left early, before I knew], all while dressed in my gown. My feet were so swollen, I literally almost couldn't walk. We just watched TV, and went to sleep! What a pair of wild swingers WE were, huh????)
