Why don't those birdies come to my feeder?

I put a cat window seat on one of my windows. Butzie took to it after awhile. I decided to put my peanut feeder for my Stellar's and Scrub Jays outside that window. The birds will come for the peanuts, they are noisy and Butzie can see them from the bed. Then she goes to the window seat. The minute she gets on the window seat, the birds stop coming. She looks forlornly
at me as if to ask what happened to that cool bird show?

Maybe it's too close? Mine is about 5 feet from the door/windows where the cats watch.

Ours is out in the yard about 5' from the glass patio door. Lately we don't have a lot of birds, but I think many migrated and the others may have found tastier feeders.
We have a few woodpeckers that still visit.

Aw! The kitties were so looking forward to desert in that feeder!
Going to move that feeder so it will be about 5' away. Not today. In the middle of really BIG storm. Any self-respecting bird is in a tree sleeping.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Give it a few days! We put suction cup bird feeders on the deck windows - down near the floor.
The titmice and sparrows - and squirrels - have TOTALLY learned that the cats can't get at them. Of course, if Ming Loy charges the window they'll all fly away.

There's one squirrel in particular that has not only figured out that the cats can't get him - he apparently enjoys taunting them!

I moved the feeder farther away from the window. Guess what? The jays are still happy with the peanuts. Butzie has now taken to sitting on one of the dining room chairs. Heck! I barely let my husband sit on those chairs! Butzie, of course, because she is my princess.
