Well well well, it appears that more information is coming out about these thugs. I don't know how true that story is, about the boys making a pact not to speak with the police. But, they have not cooperated in any way with the police. Their car and cell phones should be investigated. This is a criminal investigation. I want to know what is on their phones and who they spoke with. The PD needs to subpoena all information from these men. The contents of their car, their cell phone records and any pictures that are on their phone.
|Another car analogy to demonstrate liability!
Now, back on topic...
Ok, I couldn't think of another one at the moment, but here is a better one. I am a huge amusement park lover, especially the roller coasters. Over the years of riding, I have seen a lot of changes on these rides in regards to safety restraints. During the last decade or more, these restraints on roller coasters have gone from a comfortable bar for you to hang on to, that will keep you secure in the car during the ride, but also allowed you to move with the ride, which included a slight uplift in your seat due to negative "G" forces. Well, guess what. The stupid idiot factor has ruined this wonderful ride experience. Now, most restraints are lap bars that pin you to your seat. Why? Because a few stupid morons thaught it would bo ok to stand up on rides, even though there are signs that clearly state REMAIN SEATED DURING THE RIDE and the ride operator annoucing this same thing over a loud speaker. Amusement parks had been sued because of these injuries. WHY? It isn't their fault that someone is stupid. I have ridden many coasters, I am sure I have accumulated well over 1000 coaster rides so far and guess what. I obeyed the rules and never have had a single incident or injury. Some may say well, the amusement parks should make sure you are safe and so you can not stand up. I say wrong. Yes, they need to assure that the ride is safe, that all safety features are in place and operating properly, but they are NOT responsible for you violating the rules that keep you safe!! But, stupid attorneys sued over this and won. Now, many coaster rides are not as thrilling as they could be, because these new restraints pin you in your seat so hard, that it is painful on your legs. However, things have begun to change. It is now law, that amusement park patorns MUST obey the rules of the park and if you are found in violation of these rules, they can be prosecute you. I would think the same should hold true for a zoo as well. You violate the zoo rules, you should be prosecuted. These rules are put in place to keep you and everyone else safe. You violate these rules, you are at fault for getting yourself injured or even killed and are at fault for anyone else getting injured or killed. Does this make more sense than the car analogy??
Sorry about the book here, but the truth about this incident needs to be told, not the lies and misguided information from the mouth of some money hungry attorney.
Now, I need to explain a little more about what I consider taunting. I am not talking about yelling or throwing things. I mean, going inside the tiger enclosure or at the egde of the enclosure. Has anyone seen the pictures of the moat and safety rail? Lets explain. There is a bamboo buffer along the front edge of the moat at the exhibit, then a 3 1/2 foot railing in front of this buffer, then the walkway where YOU as a visitor are supposed to stay. Yes, this 3 1/2 foot railing is tall enough to keep the innocent out, little kids who don't know better just yet, but adults with brains should understand you don't walk over. Now, if the boys were standing on this visitor walkway, even if they were yelling and throwing things at the tiger, this would not have upset the tiger that much to do anything. Now, even if it did upset the tiger and she went down into the moat, she would not have been able to see these boys on the walkway. Since she no longer would have seen them, the tiger would not have made the assumption that if she climbs the wall (which would be impossible without any help), the boys would be on the other side. She may still hear them, but since she can not see them from down inside the moat, in her mind, there is nothing there bothering her, since she can not see them. Yes, these cats are intelligent, but they are inclined to go after things they see, not what they hear. Yes, she can see you from her exhibit area, but not from the moat. In her exhibit area, she feels no real threat from you, because you are not in her territory. HOWEVER, here is where things change. If these boys climbed over the railing and crossed over the buffer and stood on the edge of the moat wall, then the tiger can see you from down inside the moat. If one of them hung their legs down inside, they would have penetrated the tigers territory. Their legs would have provided the perfect extra source for her to climb out of the enclosure. I believe this is exactly what the boys did. If they did this, they are 100% at fault. If they would have obeyed ALL rules, that tiger would have never had any reason to want to get out or attack. Want another analogy? Ok, look at it this way. Say you are sitting in your home and you see someone walking down the street in front of your house. They stop and look at your house. Would you be curious? Of course, but all you would do is look to see what that person is up to. Much in the same way the tiger looks at regular visitors walking by or stopping at the exhibit. Now, say this person walks into your front yard, about half way. You would be more curious, to the point you would open the door and maybe ask what they are doing. This could be the same thing the tiger may feel as someone begings to taunt them by yelling, waving their arms and maybe throwing something at them. Yes, much like you, the tiger is now a little more agitated. She may decide to hide, to get away from your stupidity and you may decide to call the police if this person doesn't get out of your front yard. Ok, now what if this person opened your front door, walked inside and started yelling at you. More than likely, your adrenaline would kick in. You would not have the time to call the police, so instead, your flght or fight response would kick in. This person has now penetrated your home and you will do ANYTHING to protect yourself and that may even include killing the intruder if all else failed. If the boys climbed over the fence, crossed the buffer and stood on the edge of the moat or hung their legs inside, that is the same thing as someone entering your home for the tiger. She decided to fight, that's what they do. So, that is what I mean by taunting. If these punks taunted that tiger in that way, they are at fault hands down!!
