She will take Ace to White Ivie in San Bruno at 3. The Vet she is seeing is one of my old Vets from when I used tyo live there. She said he can not walk on his front leg and throws up. He throws up at least once a week. She can not figure out how he got hurt either. I hope he will be ok. He is 4 Years old.

She said he hasnt been out for Months but got out Months ago by accident. He is a Indoor Cat. She just called from the Vets and hung up when the Vet came in the room. She will call back when they are done.

Ace had xrays and it isnt broken. They gave him Metacam for the pain. I thought oral metacan was unsafe in Cats. Coco had the shot for her Arthitis but got another oral Pain Med. i read online that alot of Cats get Kidney failure from teh Oral dose.

I am not familiar with Metacam. Here is a link that will take you to the company site.
http://www.metacam.us/

Keep us updated about how Ace is recovering please.

My only experience with Metacam was for Raven, he had cancer. He couldn't tolerate the Metacam at all. He got very sick. Watch for not eating and throwing up. Call the vet immediately if you see that. There are downsides to Metacam, but Raven had untreatable cancer and we were trying to manage pain.

for the kitty.

My vet gave my older kitty Metacam...ONCE!...for arthritis pain. I told them to put it in her file that she's not to be given it EVER again. It totally depressed her and she was "off" for several days. She just moped around, layed around, and did nothing. She did eat, but it was much less than normal, and she pottied normally, but she the spark had just gone out of her eyes. (She has since recovered and is doing great!)

My decision to make sure she never get Metacam again came after doing extensive research on the internet and on this site.

Coco my old Cat had the Shot a Month ago for her Arthitis. After she had teh Shot I read alot of bad stuff about it. I will never let her have the Shot again. It sayd its teh Oral taht isnt safe. Coco has buprenex for her Arthitis Pain now. The Vet said she will never give Oral Metacam. My Sister is not going to give Ace the pain Med. How old is your old Cat. My is almost 15.9 or a little older. We figure she was born in Feb or March. Ace is only 4.

That's what happened for Raven. He reacted so badly to it, we thought we were going to lose him that night. It was horrible. The medication was definitely worse than any pain he was in. After that we didn't give him anything, and he was much better than before we tried the Metacam. Raven had the oral version, and it also gave him an ulcer.

Coco is 15.9 now and she got the Shot. She wont be getting it again. I told my Sister to ask the Vet if Ace can have something else. Coco has had Pred Shots before for her Asthma and Pain.

I gave that to Glitch at the end, I guess since he was bad off already it didn't bother him, or matter! No one even told me it could have bad side effects! I guess they just figured with FIP it was over anyway! But its nice to know that its not a good one to give em!!

You're probably safe.

My kitty was given the shot about 2 years ago when she was about 10. She's doing okay now. I give her Cosequin for her arthritis now and it helps tremendously. She has developed some kidney problems, but I can't say it's from the Metacam.
