Well, that time is upon us all again... the champagne, the fireworks and sugar filled screaming kids. So where are you going to be and with whom?

Unfortunately, the fiance and I are going to be stuck with the SIL's family + plenty others. We are going to be 11 adults, 7 (small) kids and a newborn. I love my SIL to death, I really do, but we see her every week and I could really do with a break from her and the two girls. I can't stand that they get so hyper on all the sweets and there seems to be no limit on what they eat.... then they get cranky, of course, and the screaming starts. AAaaaaand being so many kids, you know how it has a domino effect... one kids screams, they all start. Not much fun for the little baby either. Not to mention the fact that we were nominated to make a starter for the three course meal (which we did last year as well, by the way) - without being given the choice of whether or not we would be there
She just assumed we would be there and then planned everything around it so that we coudln't get away from it. THAT annoys me. Plus we are guarunteed a few games of Bezzerwizzer.... which I hate with a vengeance. It's a dull and boring game made all the more dull and boring by the fact that SIL will insist on reciting the rules (loudly and heatedly) at every given silent moment.

Nevermind, it's one day, we have champagne at home.... perhaps we can celebrate alone together on the 1st instead. I've made Rune promise me that we'll have New year with my mum next year, seeing as it will be the first time I've had a new year with any of my family since I was 17 (8 years is a long time) so I'm REALLY looking forward to that. I miss my mum.

So where are you going to be and whatcha gunna get up to? Are you in for as much fun as I am?!

As far as I know, nothing. We'll probably watch the ball drop on TV but other than that probably just sit around on the internet or watching TV or something like that. New Years Day is shopping day though!

I will be working until 3pm then I will go home and start cooking. Ill be making Osso Bucco, Scallops, Shrimp in wine sauce, possibly Lobster, Raw Oysters on the half shell to name a few. We'll be eating over a period of hours with rests in between. We may or may not have a guest - not sure yet.

I'm not sure what i'm doing yet. Colin left today to go out of town and won't be back until the 2nd....so i will be here by myself. I work New Years Eve, but i have off on New Years Day. I was thinking about making a nice lunch and inviting my mom and my sister and her family and maybe a few friends over for a New Years day lunch
Something simple. I'm not sure though, i might just buy a bottle of wine and make a nice quiet dinner for myself and watch some movies and watch the ball drop instead- not sure yet!

I have never spent New Years away from my DH

We will probably spend it like usual.....Dh sleeping and me on the computer!
DH should have New Year's day off, so maybe he will be awake, but that doesn't guarantee it! New Year's day we'll have a dinner at my Mom's. Not a fancy one, but sandwiches with all the fixins and that kind of stuff. Mom is going to cook up the turkey DH got from work for Christmas for sandwich meat. Yum!!!

We will be in a yurt with friends, drinking and eating till we burst!
Then we'll go snowshoeing to burn off all the calories.

Linda, it sounds like quite the gourmet feast you're preparing!

Um, most likely nothing for us. The Army did something to my husband's LES/pay so we're $200 short, making our finances tighter than ever!
He says though that the military is supposed to up his pay about 3% for the upcoming year. (Not a lot, IMO)

I'm spending it at home.

I am going to watch the last Pirates of the Carribean movie, have a nice dinner and drink a glass of white wine to toast in the New Year. I can see the fireworks display from my living room window, so I will watch those too

Well, we were invited to a party but declined because I work till 5pm the 31st and DH works till 7am that day, so neither of us will feel like doing much after we get home. Probably spend a quiet evening at home - maybe go out to dinner if we can get reservations anywhere.

We're going to try roasting a briskit, with baked potatoes and not sure about the veggie yet. Staying home, watching movies and eating, as is MY tradition. I hate driving on New Year's.

This will be the first new years with Trav, it will be kind of weird because last new years i wished to have him!

Anyway, my friend invited us to go to a small pub along the river and when the fireworks have started we will watch them, then we will most likely go home because i have to get up at 5 am to start at the airport at 7! there is an alternative though, go to work drunk..

New Year's Eve will be spent at home, trying to keep kitty calm despite the fireworks. Hubby wants to watch a televised rock concert, so I'll probably be half watching that, and half spending time here. We'll probably be eating leftover ham and potato salad (from tomorrow's dinner, as I've made up a huge batch of potato salad, and have a really big ham, and the guests we were expecting called this evening and canceled due to a norovirus). We'll be at the in-laws' house all afternoon on New Year's Day.

I was hoping to go out for New Years but hubby says he wants to stay in. So we'll probably just rent a movie.
