8-Bit... Meowmy would like you to have some manners.

My friend and I found out that popcorn and 8-Bit don't mix. Rather, he likes popcorn so much he's willing to sit on the edge of the couch and snatch a piece out of her hand as we were watching a movie. I swear, I'm a total failure as a Meowmy. 8-Bit has NO manners what so ever.

Lucky is the same way. He just loves popcorn and can't wait to get his own pile.

So should I be sending 8-bit a book by Letitia Baldrige on etiquette?

First off.....I don't think you can teach a cat anything.

I taught him how to shake, but that requires that he gets a treat. If I do the click and he does the shake, and I don't give him a treat he gets crabby and will take a tissue and shred it.

He's probably thinking he taught you how to give treats!

He's "smarter than the average bear".

Grabat will do the same thing if we have potato chips or french fries. One day, I set my Wendy's bag down on the computer desk... without warning she reached in, grabbed a fry, and took off with it.

My sister's cat Baby is like that, but with BBQ potato chips

If I have something my cats want they just sit there and stare at me, until I give them some.

My dog doesn't have manners ethier, Sophie (toy pom) jumped into the bowl of popcorn, I think she did it. so no one else would want it. and she could have it all to herself.

Holden is like that with olives. The little bugger will sit on the arm rest on the couch and wait for me to take one out of the jar and then he is all paws with this super determined look in his eyes! He goes absolutely crazy for olives.

Velvet will attack people for hot dogs I blame Colin for that one

So, Heather, can I blame 8-Bit for last night when Mojo decided that the popcorn ball I was attempting to eat was really for her, so she just came up and started licking it? Was that his influence? (I had always heard cats don't like sweets. No one told that to Mojo - she LOVED the marshmallowy coating on the popcorn ball!)

They are good with food for some reason. I dont know where that came from, it was certainly not something I taught them. I tell people they can leave their plate of food right there, the cats wont touch it and they dont.

But I wouldnt say they are the most well mannered kitties, they certainly lose their manners in other areas

Butzie never eats people food. Not even when I gave her a shrimp. Steak? No! The closest she comes is to eat meat baby food. I guess she is a cheap date.

We had not heard anything out of 5-Bit for awhile, so he must have been being good.
