Im trying to spread the message by this signature in non-cat forums I do participate on:

Cats give joy and a feeling of harmony and well-being into a home.
Many homeless cats seek a home.
Contact a cat-shelter!
You too can be an everyday-hero.

I suspect the grammar istnt perfect.
Any suggestions for improvement?

That's great, Stefan! The only suggestion I have is to change "Cats give" to "Cats bring" in the first line
I love the last line

Stefan - it looks great! I like KatieMae's suggestion about changing cats "give" to cats "bring" in the first line.

I, too, love your last line.

Thank you for being such a champion of stray and feral kitties!

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas, and best wishes for a VERY happy 2008!

Im very glad of hearing the approvement from you all!

Yes, it is bring from now on. Thanks!

One reason why I asked was not only to ask about the grammar and how to put the words.
I wanted also to spread this idea of spreading our messages to non cat-people.
Simply by using the right to our signature when participating in non cat-forums.

Many small drops makes with time holes even in stone.

I think the newest version will be:

Cats bring joy and a feeling of harmony and well-being into a home.
Many homeless cats seek a home.
Adopt one. Contact a cat-shelter!
You too can be an everyday-hero.

It sounds great. There aren't hyphens in "cat shelter" and "everyday hero", though.

Stefan - I was just wondering - did you ever make this your signature in other forums? And did you ever have anyone contact you about it or comment?

I haven't used a signature like that in other forums, but I did make Flowerbelle my avatar and I am always located in "Planet Cat in NW NJ."
I've had several people from one forum contact me with cat questions - and though they've never shown up here, I was able to help someone with a problem with strays and one with a behavior problem.

Just wondering if you, too, had the pleasure of some feedback in other places?

The signature is working at my bridge-forums, both the international and my swedish forum.

I get sometimes remarks they liked my signature, or they understand my concern for the homeless, or they themselves have cats.

But taken as hard facts, if anybody reported they took in a homeless because of my signature, no.

It MAY have happened, but I dont have any proof, no.

But you never knows which drop did it.

One example. There is a young talented swedish bridge-player. I discovered her by accident on Internet bridge when she labelled herself novice. I adviced her to change that label for at least intermediate, but it should really be advanced. Later I recommended her to apply for training group for the national school-team. I wrote also to the natjonal coach and told about her.
One month later she was into the team and rest is history.
In my book Im the discoverer, although I did never get any recognization.
Later, she told me she applied to the team because one of her bridgefriends talked her into it. This is surely thrue, but who knows, it was perhaps only the last drop. My being the essential first drop.

Signatures that actually have a message rock!

How about just switching lines #3 and #4?

You too can be an everyday HERO!

Contact your local animal shelter or SPCA!

Whacha tink?I think the adjective "local" makes the reader feel it`s in his neighborhood.

Cool sig.!

I suspect most people in forums ignore signatures or even turn them off, but every little bit helps. If enough people see enough times that shelters have pets just waiting for homes, maybe they'll remember that when they decide they want a pet.

Just curious, when I visited Sweden last year, I didn't see a single cat. Not on the streets, not by the river, not in windows, nowhere. Any idea why that might be?

You were a little unlucky.
Probably because most cats are more or less indoors cats. But quite a few are allowed to go out, and thus you can see them now and then.

There ARE homeless, they say it is about 100 thousand... Roughly counted.

But is is thrue, you do seldom see them around.

^I was wondering.. Do you have any laws in Sweden about cats running free outside?
We have one here. It's illegal to let your cat (or dog) go outside without it's owner's supervision in population centers, and if you do let your cat outside and it leaves your property, it's considered to be exposition/abandonment and you'll be fined because of it. Unfortunately they don't really supervise this and there are lots of kitties left alone outside.

Good signature, by the way!

Yes, there is something similiar in Sweden too. Although they arent usually pursuing this. The major danger here is not the fines, but the citys municipal hunter has the right to kill the loose cat without known owner.
They are not supposed to shoot at cats with collars, but it happens now and then.

But luckily, this sort of hunt isnt popular, and thus - not very much in use.
The threat is mostly a potential one, not real.
(although shooting of homeless do happens now and then, here and there).

Btw. Loose dogs are very unusual, though. This have a big plus for cats: Cats are very seldom killed by dogs.

This has also some consequences on the homeless and dumped: there are few predators. So the weak and sick amongst them, arent killed quickly by predators like loose dogs. The unsuccesful homeless must thus die by themselves, the slow painful way...
