You got it!!!! I volunteer at a place for people with disabilities to ride and they have two of these guys. Both of them have a nasty habit of biting the handlers (me), but they are really fun and unique horses!!!

Some sort of bit - I'm not very well up on horses.

I know what a saddle and a bridle look like (curtesy of my best friend).

The reins connect directly with the snaffle bit. The bit I have shown, the reins connnect at the bottom of the "shank".

Hmmm...well, that's the first "curb" bit I ever saw that doesnt have the curb! I must be behind the times worse than I thought!!

It just depends on what the people that taught you call it. We sort of call all the separated bits like that "snaffles". At least that's what I thought, LOL!
