still haven't mastered the D40 - that will definitely take a LONG time.

Thank you everyone, I'm not completely happy with them but I think I'll get better at using this camera in time.

yup it's a digital camera.

anyone know of a good way to print my pictures for cards? I've had a couple of inquiries on how to get them? I'm looking for a cheaper place for printing then resale...Shutterfly really wouldn't work.

Nice picture, and nice start with your D40

Try spot focus on their eyes if you're having troubles... do you have the 18-55mm?

yup, i have that kit lens. I adjusted to spot focusing and it's much better, but I really have to be careful about camera jar. I did take some nicer ones today. And I'm really glad I figured out about adjusting the flash exposure. It's really helped alot. More pics to come tonight.....

You're going to have so much fun with the new camera.
Yes, on board flash is never the greatest. Try increasing ISO or lighting in the room. Another suggestion is blocking the flash with something transparent (ie: tissue paper) or using a hand held flash and bounce off another area. Also, be careful about the colour that surrounds the subject since the subject's colour will also be affected.

Also, once you see the other lens choices out there you will realize the lens makes the camera. I have a Canon and I picked up a 50mm f. 1.8 lens and it makes a big difference for inside shots.

Once you have an SLR you become addicted to adding new toys to the base camera. It easily becomes an expensive hobby! Have fun Renovia!
