I just got back from the vets (it's our annual cat vaccination time of year) and they gave me a copy of his pathology report. When I walked into the office, everyone was smiling and congratulating me on the diagnosis and the vets were just beaming. They saw the pathology report come in on the fax yesterday and immediately picked up the phone to call us, as they knew we wanted to hear the good news ASAP.

His official diagnosis: Haired skin, inferior tricholemmoma (you try to pronounce that one!). The tumor cells extended to the border of the tissue that was removed and there is a good chance that it will grow back. The vet cut out tissue all the way to the bone and there wasn't any more tissue to remove. But we know what to look out for and the moment we see it again, he'll be back into surgery. What scared all of us was the speed that this grew, and the way it looked. Both vets at the clinic looked at the tissue and said it was a bad growth.

Spike has pretty much stopped licking the incision, but now Sam keeps going up to him and licking it. So now I've resorted to repeating "stop it Sam" all day long.
