I'm trying to find music that I can use without legal backfire for videos of adoptable animals on Petfinder. I tried Googling & came up with nothing. I know I have been told at least once what kind of music I can use, but I can't find the thread I'm looking for & don't have the PM anymore.

So:
1) Where can I find music that I can use?
2) Can I use music from CDs I have ripped to my computer?
3) What kind of music would you use in a video of:
A) Senior Cats?
B) Timid dogs?
C) Special needs animals?

And most importantly, I can't figure out how to save my video in Windows Movie Maker as this is Vista I'm using & it's different!

This is correct. It would be hard to find royalty free music, I bet. And you are allowed to rip and burn a copy of your CD's for your own use as a backup but as soon as you use it in something like what you're talking about, you've opened yourself up for trouble with a capital T! I don't know if you could even purchase what you want on something like iTunes and then use it for mass distribution like that. It's a slippery slope!

Ooh! I`ve been wondering about this too as I wanted to make a slide show of Maisies pictures with a song that fits her so well

All I know is you can do it on Photobucket but the choice of music isn`t too good
So I`d be really interested to see what you come up with.

How do the people that put videos on Youtube do it? Do they cheat and hope not to get caught?

I have a few song ideas but not sure how much use they are as far as copyright goes!

This is the song I want to put to a slideshow of Maisie:

Anouther good one ( I think! )

One more for luck!

It's really easy with movie maker or proshow gold or a similar program. most of the programs are just drag and drop. The tricky part is using copyrighted music and then publishing it or using it as a promotional video etc. If it's strictly for your own use or home use, then you'd be ok. It becomes a little risky when you publish it to the public.

ARGH! Alright, here's a question for ya.....I'm making a video comprised of pics of Martin my foster dog on Windows movie maker. So, I import the pics as normal, but the 4 I really want to use won't show up!
They import, but it shows up as a little paintbrush/picture thingy with a red X in the corner.

Any ideas what happened? How to fix it?

They may be saved in a different format. Open them all and save them as .jpg files.

Royalty free music is hard to come by but there are sites out there that have links. If you have non profit status you may be able to get permission to use some too if you can be bothered asking.

That's what I wondered, Eithne....but I already double checked, they're saved as JPG images?

I made up a slideshow in Photobucket....that'll do for now. I hope I can get it uploaded to YouTube now somehow.
