I spent yesterday at my brothers and didn't get home until 9pm or so. When I walked in, Junior and Missy were laying on the kitchen counter where I prepare their food bowls (they've never done that before). I guess they just wanted to make sure I knew their dinner was 3 hours late.

We have an automatic cat feeder, just in case...

Can't imagine the kitties having a late dinner

There's always a bit of dry food out for George in case he gets hungry. In the evening tho, is when I give him some of his "wet" food. Should dinner be late for some reason - he acts like he's starving and that he never gets fed! He's on the counter into the food bowl before I ever get the food in there! At 16 lbs, I don't think if he missed a meal it would hurt him

That's hilarious. We feed Blossom in the bathroom & when she thinks she should be fed, she runs in there nearly tripping us over.

My moms boy oscar is like that she feeds him his wet food at the same time every nite 5:00 pm,when she feeds the dog oscar knows when it is 5 always. he gets fed on the counter and he will go in there about 5 minutes til and he will jump on the counter and just start meowing until fed, and he sounds like a little kitten when he does it even tho he is about 6 or 7 years old now. I think it is so funny how ritualistic cats are.

My Maddie likes to bang the cabinet doors where the food is kept. She will open it with her paw and let it hit, all the while staring at you if you're in the room.

I know this may sound strange but I never feed my cats on a schedule. I feed them when I can since my schedule is so erratic with school, freelancing, and socializing. However, there is always a HUGE bowl of dry food, so they can graze throughout the day. As a result, they never beg and are just happy when it's wet food time. I feed them wet food twice a day and they both maintain normal weight (between 10-11 pounds). It's wonderful because they never wake me up in the morning!

Zoey has always let me sleep in, no matter how late. But once I get up, she talks non-stop until I feed her. Like I would forget.

Talley and Harper are on the four times a day feedings. They don't whine yet, however they are excellent at doing the "scaling the leg in 3 seconds" when they realize you are preparing their food. I have the scars to prove it.

I free feed dry food as well but both cats act just like George. Whenever possible I shut them in another room while I prepare their bowls. It's not as messy that way!

Butzie sleeps with me, so early in the am, between 5 & 6, she paws and meows at me to feed her. When I get up to do so, she "leads" me to her dish. Who is trained here?
