The cat needs to see a vet tomorrow NO MATTER WHAT! I'm shocked that he didn't see a vet already after the scary situation you endured over the weekend. Cats don't get that skinny without a good reason, and temporarily feeling better doesn't necessarily make him better. The decision to wait could very well be a life or death decision for your kitty.

It would seem by reading the whole thread the OP has explained the issues with parents... Yes I agree a vet should be seen and that is an issue the OP needs to take up with her parents since there are multiple cats in this family ...

Let us know what the vet says! I do agree that even if he looks better when its time to go to the vet that he still go though... Im not going to be mean about it though! I understand that its hard to get them there and goodness does it cost!! I hope he feels better REALLY soon and the problem is something little!! (and cheap!)

Please let us know, and keep us posted!!

Misskiwi, honestly, it's not completely my fault. Even if I would have been able to bring him in yesterday my mom and dad had absoutely no time and besides, he was looking better then. The day before my mom flat out refused to bring me. Besides, none of this took place on the weekend - it's only been going on for two or so days. I hope you don't take offense from this comment (I didn't from yours), things end to be taken the wrong way over the internet. Glitch, I understand - no offe3nse take there either.

The appointment is made for 3:00 today (in 3.5 hours for those with different time zones). Let's hope my little boy is going to be alright!

Good news!
We have pills for a bacterial infection, and the vet says he's 90% sure he'll be able to make it through just fine. We were going to vaccinate the other cats to make sure they don't get it, but he said to wait and make sure they don't have it first so we don't end up urging it on instead of blocking it off.

Thank you all so much for the vibes - they worked wonders!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I'm so relieved! Your very first post really got me - and I think a lot of us - really worried for your kitty.

I'm so glad it's an infection that should be quickly cleared up.

Sending vibes for a quick recovery!

Can you be more specific as to what the vet told you regarding it being a bacterial infection?

Seems like a lot of the same symptoms kittens get at the humane society here & the vet is out of ideas. Seems like young, unvaccinated kittens get "it".

Maybe you & Ditto can be of some help to the kittens here.

Oh, great. It seems he's got 'the goopies' now - his eyes have runny green stuff coming from them. He had it slightly before so it's not a reaction from the meds (one half pill twice a day), but it looks terrible. I'm SO SICK of sick cat.

Speaking of being so sick of things, I've just seen enough cat poop to last a lifetime. I have to keep Ditto's litterbox extra clean since he's kenneled for the most part, so I empty it two-three times a day. He pooped twice outside of it (once on the rug, onceon my BED) when he had free roam of the house,a nd now I just was holding lady a bit ago only to realize she stepped in hers and I had to clean that up off of her paws. Ah, too much poop! That was a bit of a ramble, but seriously, I cannot take any more poopy smell. Next time it happens I'm going to wear a clothespin on my nose!

The vet didn't know exactly what it was. Unless he did tests I don't think he would - he treated it with...let me check on the bottle. I'll edit in a bit as soon as I check. However, he did say it started out as a viral infection before it morphed into a bacterial one. I'm not sure if that'll help, though.

Edit: He's treating it with Baytril. I'm not sure if that means much to you, I certainly haven't heard of it before! I wish I had more information on what exactly it was for you.
