As you may know, DH and I are childless, and, with no family around to celebrate, so our 9 cats are even more like family than usual. I always buy them treats, expensive cat food, and of course, toys.
Well, I even have stockings for them, too. And, like kids, I have to hide their gifts, but for slightly different reasons! On Christmas morning, we gather in the living room, and open gifts. I called the cats in, and a few actually came! They sat around, waiting for their gifts, and sniffing them. The tiny catnip mice from the groceery store were a big hit! I threw down all 4 mice, and Jasmine actually growled at another cat (under my chair, so I don't know who), over posession of the mouse! (The mice were so good, Loki even passed up on attacking the bows and ribbons.
)
I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but watching our "kids" play with their new toys really made the day for us, and gave us a few much-needed laughs.
Merry Christmas to all of you and your pets!
