Butter Cream or Whipped Icing

Which type of icing do you prefer?

1. Butter Cream Icing
2. Whipped Icing

I like the good, ole fashioned butter cream icing. I can't stand icing made out of whipped topping.

I agree, love the butter cream, can leave the whipped Buttercream always tastes good whereas with some of the others, its iffy.

I like both, but the buttercream lays in my tummy like a brick sometimes, so I usually stick with the whipped icing.

I don't really care for icing, but out of the 2 you listed I picked "Butter Cream".

The only icing that I don't mind is that type that is on the top of those McCaine Frozen Chocolate Cakes.

I prefer butter cream, but if I want it, I have to bake myself. Most people in Germany used whipped cream on cakes.

I'm actually not sure, but I think the kind I can eat is made of the whipped topping- I hate regluar icing and will actually scape it off the cake

I went through a stage in my twenties of stirring up Cool Whip and Instant Pudding as a frosting (usually lemon), and it was very good... but then I discovered a recipe for Champagne Buttercream, and the rest is history. It only had a touch of champagne in it, but it gave it such a delicate flavor... it was one of those things that make you close your eyes when you eat it.

Well...I'm going to sit on the fence, because I think it depends on the cake. If we're talking about devil's food, that has to have chocolate buttercream. But then I think of a lemon creation that my Dad used to make, that was somewhere between angel food and chiffon, with a gorgeous lemon filling -- that needed whipped cream -- the real stuff, mind you -- none of this hydrogenated that you spoon out of a tub. THAT I can do without entirely, thanks.

I voted "whipped", but realistically, I don't really like frosting at all. It's too sweet for the most part. Good cake shouldn't need frosting, anyway.

Butter Cream!!!! I'm also a huge fan of cream cheese icing too!!! That's what i used on my Sugar Cookies today and they tasted sooo yummy!
