A few weeks ago, I posted a thread about Gabriel going potty on the toilet (and I never trained him how to do so
..). This morning, my s/o said he heard a trickling in the bathroom, and got up to see what was going on (he was thinking it was the toilet leaking again). He walked in to see Gabriel peeing in the toilet again.

I don't think my s/o really believed me when I told him about it before when it happened - but he sure believes me NOW!
I guess you just have to see some things yourself, before you actually can believe it.

I put the camera on the dresser, which is right next to the bathroom, so the next time Gabriel pees on the toilet, I can be ready to take a pic of it.
It's just so funny!

Yes, I did, but he was only about 5 weeks old when I got him - so I know that he never had any toilet training.

He's just one very intelligent cat, that's all.

That is soo funny that he just picked it up like that

We have a kitty at our shelter named Sasha who uses the toilet too
Her former owners trained her to do it (then conviently dumped her off
) it's the funniest thing i've ever seen though!

Why would anyone want to drop off a toilet-trained cat?!
(or any cat, for that matter?!)

It IS hilarious!
Especially when you've never trained your cat to so so!
I just crack up whenever I see it!

That's hilarious! You must have the smartest cat around! My little boy just likes to watch me go... when he's not trying to drink out of it

This gives me hope. My cats are always in the bathroom with me & sniffing around to see what I'm doing. Maybe if I started leaving the toilet seat up, they would start to use the toilet?? That or they would all get a bath!

A friend's cats all use the toilet. Her first cat did it, and when she got two more cats, they saw him using it, and did likewise. Now she's on about the third generation of potty-trained cats.

I wish Ben would learn how to use the toilet. He makes such a mess in the pan. LoL

I figure that the "copycat" expression does have some basis in fact - cats definitely learn behaviors by observing other cats, their humans, dogs, etc..

Most cats seem to be fascinated by bathrooms, and like to accompany you there, so I can see why a lot of them would consider a toilet some form of "flushable litter box".

You're one lucky owner!
Sure - you can borrow him. After he teaches my other four furbabies how to use the toilet, too!

I'll bet I'd have a much better chance of teaching Gabriel how to flush the toilet, than I would my s/o..

Maybe you're right.
There has to be some reason why they feel the need to follow us into the bathroom whenever we go in there.
That's one of those cat "mysteries" I've been trying to figure out for years now..

I think my Tiger goes in because he knows that he gets attention while I'm on the pot.
Gawd, we spoil them!
