I also have another question- How can i tell if my cat is pregnant? Here is the story my female did go into heat for the first time like 2 weeks ago and my male cat did try to hump her but i didn't see him get in her cause i was watching them once and he was on top of her but he was too far up and there was no possible way he could have done anything to her but i dont know if maybe he did get her later so what can you tell me?

You need to get your male neutered right away. He is humping your arm and humping your female because he wants to have sex. This behavior will increase in frequency AND he will become more aggressive AND he will likely begin spraying your house if you do not have him neutered immediately.

Also, you need to have your female spayed immediately. It is likely that she IS pregnant if your male has had any access to her at all. It doesn't take much contact for a successful mating. So even if you succeeded in keeping them apart once, chances are excellent that he got to her at another time. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get her spayed IMMEDIATELY.

Click here for more imformation about the importance of spaying your cat.

I have to agree with lotsocats, it is imperative for you to get your male cat neutered and your female spayed. It will increase your cat's life and make your own life a lot better as well.

I have neva heard of a cat trying to hump someones arm iv'e heard of dogs doing it but it's ridiculous and i am trying to have kittens so spaying and neutering is out of the question right now plus i think its kinda stupid and morally wrong how would you like if someone cut off your manhood or vice versa animals have feelings too and just cause they cant tell you they probably dont like it

I think you would find that if cats could talk they would thank us for neutering them. An intact male cat roams far and wide in search of females in heat. While roaming he will fight with other males who are also searching for females and who are guarding their territory. These fights can be fatal. In general, neutered cats live longer and healthier lives than intact males. Thus, because the roaming and fighting (and death) are not pleasant, I am sure the cats are grateful after having the surgery. Think about the fact that you probably hated getting shots or taking yucky medicine when you were (are?) a child. Even though you didn't like it the reality is that it was the best thing to do for your health and safety!

The average life span of an un-neutered Tom allowed outside is 2 years. They get abcesses from fights and run over by cars trying to get to females in heat.

KB, You are correct in one aspect, all living things have an urge to reproduce. In fact, a cats urge to reproduce is so strong that there are literally millions of cats and kittens being put to death every day, week, year in the US alone because there are not enough people for the amount of kittens they produce. In addition to those who are euthanized, painlessly, there are millions more cats who are left to their own devices, a.k.a. stray and feral cats, and not only reproduce but also generally die painful deaths by disease, starvation, predators, cars, etc. We as humans have a higher intelligence than animals, and are responsible enough to know what is best for the animals put into our care. Do you feed your cats or just let them fend for themselves, following their natural instincts?

You are entitled to your opinion, but let me say that the people you are saying "really they have no clue", namely the people who have given you reasonable and responsible advice in this thread, are very knowledgable and DO in fact know about cats in general, feline health, feline behaviour, feline rescue and management. In fact, three of the people who answered you are or have made the welfare of cats their profession. Since I assume you do not have these qualifications and are only speaking from your uneducated opinion, I would be wary of saying these people do not know anything.

oh boy i'd like to go off on those replies but im not cause im smarter than you. At any rate you have not helped me wit my questions like hmmm to find out if your cat is pregnant take her to the vet did that help me no cause i already knew i could do that and you "educated people" should be experts and know ways to find out when females are pregnant by looking at them or an attitude change. And why does my male try to hump my arm and you say cause he wants to have sex duh thats why there's a female cat here so why would he want to hump my arm?

I know and thats not the cats fault and we should bot stop them from reproducing or rather control the population cause a lot of times it's the "good" animal shelters that put animals to sleep thats straight murder do we kill homeless cause we cant find them a home no?
But you think your smarter than an animal that doesn't give you the right to force your way on to them. How can you call a guy kicking his dog animal cruelty but putting animals to death isn't and is actually and allowed.

If she is pregnant will they still have intercourse while they're pregnant?
