It's official now. I have a stray orange tabby in my yard. I fed it the other day. Today, it was on my deck and came to me when I called. It has no collar and it's coat is a little mangy. But it let me pet it so it was somebody's pet. In my neighborhood, all pets have collars and are pampered, so it is a stray. Plenty of cat doors and outside food for a stray, though.

I called our shelter and they said if I could capture it, I should bring it in. Then there are 3 days to wait before you can claim it and they will look for a microchip. My family says not another cat, but I do know two women who lost there orange tabby - not the same one because theirs had a freckle on its nose - so I left a message for them if they wanted another tabby.

I feel terrible about bringing the cat into the shelter which is where we got Butzie but it is a wonderful no kill shelter and there are lots of rescue cat families around here.

Please send me some vibes that all works out for the cat. I am so distraught!

My birthday is 1/13 and if the cat hasn't been adopted or they find the owners. I am going to adopt it then. It's my birthday and I get to pick a present.

A no kill shelter with space available? Go get that cat!!!!!!!!!!!

Do they have a trap you can borrow? The safest and quickest way to capture this kitty will be a trap. Put food in it at very regular times without the trap being set. Either lay newspaper over the wire or pour dirt or litter through it - won't affect it's ability to trip, but kitty won't have to feel the wire on his feet. When you're ready to get him to the shelter/vet and and he's been eating at regular times - set the trap and go!

This kitty is very lucky to have found you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
