So here is the deal. As I said before I have not had a wedding set in a long long time. And I don't really know when we can afford for either one of us to get one. So last night I bought a cheap (yes I said cheap) ring that looks like an engagement ring just to wear something on my left hand just to say I am married. Because quite frankly I feel naked and bad without one. And hubby knows this and he feels the same way about not having one. So anyways I bought this ring and hubby knows about it and what hand I want to wear it on and he is ok with that.

The ring is sterling silver with a fake diamond. And I am hopefully one day I will have a wedding band (plain) a white gold one. So it would match the ring I just bought. And chances are I may not wanna move the ring I just bought. So after all this here is my question. Does it go engagement ring closest to the hand/heart or wedding band closest to the hand/heart.

Thanks.

The finger is bare when you wed, even if you had an engagement ring on before. You remove the engagement ring for the ceremony. So I believe the wedding ring goes on first, followed by the engagement ring after.

Thanks Natalie for that. I was so unsure. When we bought our first set it was after our weding so I don't think I wore it the right way even then.

I don't know what is considered the "right" way, but I like mine to be engagement ring first then band... but I think I always find myself going against the flow lol

Wedding ring is first is right.

If it helps any, I have a wedding band that we got for just $30. My best friend has the same one in white gold. I know prices have gone up in gold though. Both of us got our sets from Reeds jewelers. They are a chain, so maybe they'd be a good place to try someday when you can get a wedding band for yourself.

Ok I just checked their website, it looks like it's $50-$100 for a 2mm white gold band, depending on your finger size. (I think my ring is the 2mm one) The 4mm one is about $130. Gold really has gone up in price!

I think people make too much fuss about how expensive wedding rings should be. It's a symbol that shouldn't have anything to do with money.

DH and I married at 17 and 19. 20 years ago and our wedding bands were just plain. My engagement ring is small. They mean the world to me and I consider them priceless.

We are talking about getting new wedding bands. His is bent and misshaped and mine is really really tight. I would like two silver matching wedding bands. I can guarantee you they will not be extravagant or terribly expensive. I don't need or want a money symbol on my finger.

So Yes I would love to see a picture of your ring.

I would rather spend the money on having a weekend away with my BF than on a ring (I just want a ring). Some rings are crazy!

I would like to see your ring too

I hear ya snosrap5. Even my first set was very plain. A small diamond with some engravings. I really don't even want a big ring just a simple one. But everything went to getting the kids something for christmas. I really wanted to get him a ring this year (and for the most part a good price) but as we know Pong went into heat and I had to get her spayed asap. Which I was able to do.

Anyways here is the ring. I have no idea how big this picture will be. I ordered it through Avon. I have no idea how long it will take to get here:

It's pretty! One of my friends buys rings from Avon all the time to fool guys away!
So they are pretty! My friend used to work in the mall and was always getting hit on, so she'd wear the rings to work and take them off afterwards!

When you put on the ring it should be wedding band (closest to the knuckle) then engagement ring. That's how I wear it.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
It's really pretty! I wear mine with the wedding band first, engagement ring second (and anniversary solitaire wrap third, lol).

Btw, my wedding band didn't cost my husband anything...it's an heirloom handed down from my grandfathers' mother, to my mom, to me. One day, I will pass it on (hopefully).

It's pretty. I really don't want an expensive ring when my boyfriend proposes. I said nothing more than about $200 because I wont wear it if it is too expensive. I would be too afraid of losing it.

That's a pretty ring. I had the same question in the past and ys, the wedding ring is closest to the heart....even though I only have an engagement ring at the moment, I was wondering how it would look because my ring will require a certain wedding band to go with it....

I wore my engagement ring on my other hand during my wedding so I could immediately put it back on with the wedding ring.
