My new kitty, Bella, has very prominent flaps on her ears (at the base on the rear ridge). Is this normal? Marley doesn't have it. I've only had cats for seven months, so I'm still a little "green".

I wonder what the purpose is? Hmmm. I'm off to research now.

I believe the flaps in a cats ear sort of function as what would be the human deffinition of a "tragus". I know in bats it is used for echolocation, and I would assume it would have something to do with the structure of the sound as it enters the ear. . .

I have my tragus pierced!
