So the foster cordinator just emailed and asked if I was still interested in fostering a special needs dog. I emailed back that I was but it depends on the problem.

So she emails me back about a 13 month old Black and tan coonhound/shar pei mix. He's been in he rescue since he was 8 weeks old. Fostered by a first time foster home. The foster mom moved when he was about 4 months old. They hadnt been able to track them down since then.

They finally found them saturday. Went over to the house and found the dog tied up in the back no shelter very little food and digusting water.
Aparently she decided she wanted to keep him but didnt want to pay the adoption fee so she just left with him. Then found herself a guy a couple months ago and he is scared of men.

Obviously the rescue took him back. He isnt doing well in the foster home he currently is in because the women has several teenage sons and a husband. So Im the only place that have no guys around. Its mainly just me and Ari. So they wanted to know if I would take him.

Im supposed to go and meet him after work and if he reacts well he will be coming home with me. He gets along with cats fine and is very friendly to his foster mom just not the guys in the family.

I hope everything goes ok, but please be aware you may be dealing with some tough issues. A fearful dog is prone to fear aggression (although hounds tend to be very easygoing dogs), which can be hard to deal with. You will want to make all his experiences with people very positive, if he's a foodie this won't be hard to do.

Thanks. I know all this. When me and my husband were married we were the "behavioral problem" foster home. He still is but obviously he cant go to him since he is terrified of men.

The foster mom says all he does when he see's the guys is run to his crate and hide until they are gone. He will let them pet him but shakes the whole time.

Poor boy.
I'm fostering a Coonhound X for a little bit & man....she rocks. I love her "woo woo".

I hope you can work some magic on him. Once he trusts you & realizes you love him.....you can make great progress with him. You've done it with kitties...you can do it with him

That is sad. I hope she is not allowed to foster anymore.
I hope he works to come home with you.

Here's here for now his name is BP. Boy puppy.I need to find a better name for him. He's super super sweet. Though he appears to either be blind or going blind. So hes going to a specialist next week and we will see what happens. He is great with the cats and even gave Ari some kisses. So things look good. He's a sweetheart.
