I am happy and sad at the same time. Friday is the big day- Jezabel, my sweet little calico three legged foster kitten is going to be ready to be spayed and then placed up for adoption. I have fought back tears all week long at the thought of her leaving my home to move on and find a permanent one. I am soooo close to this little kitten- she's a sweetheart
It's going to be hearbreaking to let her go- but i know she will find the right home soon.

She recovered amazingly well from her back leg being amputated a few weeks ago. (Some nice lady found her injured and brought her into the shelter- she was unable to keep her as she had other pets- but cared soo much for her that she payed to have her little leg taken care of. You don't find good people like that everyday....so it was really nice to see someone do something soo kind for such a sweet/sick kitten.) Since the amputation- Jezzy has made leaps and bounds...literally- she hops everywhere
She's fast too!

She's put on a healthy amount of weight and is growing like a little weed!
The fur is growing back from the amputation site and every day she is just becomming more sweet! She gets along very well with my other kitties and even tolerates the dogs. All of my coworkers just adore her as well. I really want to keep her- i wish i could...but space is tight and i know the more i take in on a permanent basis, the less i can help and the more needy animals i would have to turn away down the road....she is my inspiration because i know there will be another needy pet just like her in no time that needs a good foster home. It's still hard to think about letting her go though.

I plan to write a little note to go with her to her new home. I will be right there to prep her for surgery and watch over her on Friday so i'm praying she does ok and has an easy recovery. This little kitten has not had an easy start to life- so i'm hoping the rest of her life she can just be pampered and loved by a wonderful new home!

Would you guys mind sparing a few ((smooth surgery/ find a great forever home)) vibes for little Jezabel? She deserves nothing but the best!

awww i wish you were closer and could take her- i know she'd be spoiled rotten if you had her
i'm hoping an equally good home comes along for her- i'm just nervous about it and a bit overprotective of her since she is a special needs baby.

thankyou!
She definitely deserves the best- you should see her -she is just sooooo sweet and loving. I am incredably attached to this one- normally i don't get that attached -but she's special....she's just a big sweetie pie!
It's going to tear me up to let her go

I was lucky enough to start out fostering with no animals. So me keeping my three wasnt a problem. Two of them if I wasnt able to adopt I would have been heartbroken when they were adopted. Calamity is just a plain pain in the rear!

Ok well at Tristans house we have a blind cat, an fiv positive cat, a deaf/blind/arthritic dog and a healthy but over excited dog all who i love and look after when i'm there, and here we have chuckie who has a heart murmur and is indoors.

I think i'd be good with a three legged kitty, oh and i know what a calico attitude is like too

Ill name her...HOPPY!!

No in all seriousness, i hope she gets a good home, she deserves the best care and love a special need kitty, or any kitty can get

To this day there have been two other foster kittens that i absolutely regret that i did not adopt- their names were bosco and berkley -one was a lynx point siamese and one was a ragdoll x...i raised them both from infants- i wish i would have kept them and think about them often/wonder how they are. They were SOOOOOOO sweet. The other foster kitties that I got that attached to....i wound up adopting
Jasmine, Isabella, Kojak- all were "failed" foster babies

I have not felt this strongly about wanting to keep another kitty since Kojak...i am beyond attached to this sweet little girl. It's absolutely eating me up inside....but i know it's the right decision to see if she can get a home. If for some reason she is unable to find the right home though- i've already told my boss she can stay with me as long as she needs to. Our shelter vet has already placed bets with my coworkers on when i will adopt her
I swear i'm going to be strong and let her try and get a good home though first and just see what happens. I am normally pretty good about letting my foster babies go- i have had sooo many....it's just every once in a while- there's one you bond with very much- and it makes it harder to say goodbye, ya know?

I know exactly how you feel, I have that problem with one of my current fosters (although he is now possibly going to be harder to home, so it might not be an issue!!), every now and then there is one that just gets under your skin that bit more, isn't there? I hope she finds a good home, cos as much as she would get spoiled if she stayed with you, it woudl be awful if it meant another little cat couldnt have that chance of a foster home, and it is the reason I rarely adopt my fosters, I have had some wonderful cats, but couldnt live with myself if I Couldn't help a needy cat cos I had kept a perfectly adoptable cat. I do hope letting her go isn't too hard on you.

That is exactly how i feel- i'm soo glad you understand!
It gets really hard sometimes to let one that's really bonded with you/gotten uner your skin go...because you just worry over them and want nothing but the best for them- i know if she stayed, she would be taken care of and spoiled with love all of her sweet little life- i do not know what would happen if someone else got her- so it's a bit nervewracking...i just want the best for her
Aww i love her sooo much!

I am not planning to adopt her (at the moment anyways) because i know that there will always be another sweet kitty or dog in need down the road that will touch my heart just as much as Jezabel- and the thought of having to turn away a pet in need because i am out of room would be soo horrible...so i am trying to be good and not add anymore on a permenant basis right now so that i have more time/energy to devote to fostering- the more i take in on a permenant basis, the less i will be able to help when they are in need, and that would be heartbreaking to have to turn another sweet furbaby away that needs help. It's hard- i'm conviencing myself i'm doing the right thing- but it is still tearing me up inside at the moment.
It's going to be a little hard on my other cats too- because she is soo bonded with them...we all just love her.

I do know exactly how you feel, being in a similar position myself - but like you, I couldn't live with the thought that me having another permanent cat might mean a cat missing out on a foster space. It doesn't always make it easy though!!

Well, tonight is my last night with here before she goes on to get spayed and hopefully find a new home tomorrow. It's going to be soo hard to let this sweet little angel go. I'm praying she finds a wonderful home soon though.

Well, i managed to make it through the day today without crying- so that's a plus.

Jezabel did wonderful during and after surgery and is recoverying well at the shelter. She is in my boss's office (where all the "favorites" get to go and hang out
) and she is away from other furbabies at the moment so hopefully we can keep her healthy/etc. She is 5lbs now!
Last night Colin got his camera fixed, so i was able to snap some pictures of her
I will post them when he gets a day off to find and install the program on my pc- i wanted everyone to see how sweet she is

Before i left for the evening,I fixed her up a nice cage with a warm comfy bed, lots of stuffies and her litter pan and some water. Hopefully she'll be ok tonight. It broke my heart to leave here there....it was all i could do to get out for the day without crying
I am sooo attached to her

BUT i know that the right home will come along - so i just have to have faith she'll find a wonderful, loving home soon that will be as good to her as i am! My sweet girl deserves nothing but the best- they all do!
My coworkers and the volunteers were just oohing and aahing over her all day and giving her tons of love- so i hope she knows how loved she really is. We all just adore her. This week has NOT been a good week for adoptions- instead of our furries finding homes for Christmas- we have had a massive influx of animals...and as a result some of the dogs had to be pts due to overcrowding
The cats seem to be doing ok on adoptions so far- well at least the kittens....not the adults at the moment. And we've had our pet of the week show already, are currently doing 1/2 price adoptions and just had an open house- we're trying soo hard to get them all good homes- but we just can't save them all- it stinks. I'm just praying though that Jezabel becomes one of those wonderful success stories and finds a great home soon.

I am being careful about who she goes to- whomever adopts her has to understand that under no circumstances may she be declawed....she also can not go to a home with small children or high energy dogs just for her own safety. Can we get a few more (((please find a wonderful home soon)))) vibes for Jezabel as well as our other wonderful shelter babies right now? This week has just not been good for our shelter.

Thankyou
Today was kind of bad. My boss's cat died last night, so she was just really sad all day- i felt horrible for her
She adopted one of the FELV + cats last year as an only kitty knowing he wouldn't live long- but wanting him to have a good life while he did. We also had several more surrendered/dumped off today...and even a sheep
(not common around here
but we were able to find the owner!) Other than that though we did have a few adoptions today though so that was good. Just not my baby Jezabel- i showed her to two families, but neithor took her. Maybe next week though- i'm keeping up my hopes she'll get a home soon.

Thankyou Rigel
I really appreciate that! I am praying she gets a home soon! We are closed tomorrow through tuesday and will open again on Wed so maybe Wed she'll find a great home! I'm hoping anyways! I checked on her all day long and got her out and held her as much as i could- she was soo sweet
I miss having her here- but i know it's the right thing to do to try and let her find a good forever home if she can. If not though- she can ALWAYS come back here with me

I am sorry to hear about your boss's cat - it was a wonderful thing she did for him, although it doesn't always make the pain easier. Good luck for next week, we dont home again till the 5th Jan, so I am glad we managed to adopt out so many of the adults.
