Hi guys...could use your thoughts on this one...

A few days ago, Hobbes (boy) had to go to the vet, and had to stay overnight. So, he came home, and I put a dab of vanilla extract on each of their necks (boy do they smell yummy!
).

Now, it's been a few days...but his (literal) sister is still hissing and growling at him now and then. It's kinda throwing me for a loop! While he was gone, I made sure to give her LOADS of attention, to keep her from being upset (it was the first time they'd been apart all their lives...and they're almost 4yrs)...but now she just doesn't seem to want to accept him back!

I've wiped him down with a towel, he's been bathing fastidiously, and I can't imagine he smells much different anymore, but she's still hissing. I suppose it's good that they can at least be in the same space (she tried to attack him at first when in the same room), and they've sniffed noses...but she still growls and hisses now and then (and threatens with a faux lunge start, it that makes sense)...am I missing something?

So, any ideas you can throw at us is wonderful. Here's what I've done so far:

- Dab of natural vanilla extract on each kitty's neck
- Petting both while sitting with them, and even switching hands, so their scents get on one another
- Wiped both down with the same towel, back and forth between kitties
- Sat in the middle of the floor during the start of them being in the same space, so they got more comfortable.

Help?

EDITED TO ADD: They've got their beautiful lovey-dovey bond back now. Thank you!

They're both almost 4yrs old...

BUT...no more worries...they were laying together a bit ago, without a care in the world! YAY!!

So, they're officially friends again! YAY!!

how long has she been back? Kismet was gone for almost 6 weeks, and it took about 2 weeks for her and cello to tolerate eachother post vet (apparently he liked being an only kitty) but they are fine now. I did the vanilla etc. they seemed to chill when I started putting rescue remedy in their water.....

Well, things are fine now...as you can see above, they're now rebonded.

What's rescue remedy?

Since nothing else has seemed to work out, I'd give both of them a good warm bath in the same shampoo. By the time they are both dry, things should be ok.

Is the one cat taking any medicine from his visit?

Yes, he's on antibiotics...but no worries...they're just fine now, and back to their normal happy-to-spend-time-together selves!
