i am so very sorry to hear this, I hate seeing those 3 letters, and although it is a rare illness, I seem to be seeing them way too much at the moment. I would let the rescue group know, but you can't blame them, the majority of cats come into contact with the Corona Virus, and only 3% will get FIP, it is sadly a bad lottery. Good on you for wanting to help more cats though, do rescues in the US home over X MAs, I know they dont in the UK. RIP little ones.

yes they do. I'm actually speaking with a woman from "bitten by a kitten" rescue. she has three kittens and a mommy right now that she's looking to re-home. I may possibly adopt the three siblings and foster the mom until she finds a home for her.

well, we'll see...

my family thinks I'd be going a little overboard by doing this but I've really been thinking about fostering for awhile now anyway and I really would love to have some fluffy snuggling fur creatures back in my home.

that it works out...

I've heard good things about that rescue, even though I'm not in that area. The woman who runs it knows tons about fostering and has many years of experience.

yea..

She seems like a great lady. Unfortunately it's not going to work out. Not right now anyway...
I was thinking about it while I was at work and talked it over with Shawn and decided to wait until after the holidays because our kitty fund is so depleted after the crises with Berach and Chloe.
We literally spent thousands on vet bills for them and if we were to get babies right now, and if they were to become sick, it would financially put us in a tight spot.

We'll wait a month and replenish our funds before adopting any babies.

I'm so disappointed... Why do I have to be such a responsible adult?!

It's gonna be a sad sad christmas with no fluffies in the house...

I'm truly so depressed without any kitties to take care of. Bea doesn't need me (except to feed her and open doors for her) and prefers to be left alone.

Oh, Im sorry Saya! I know how the depleted kitty fund go though, Glitch and his FIP cost me $2200! And he was only 6 months old when he left this earth!

It is a responsible thing to do to wait though, better safe than sorry!

So are you getting sick of people telling you to disinfect and such???
Dont worry, you wont hear another word out of me!! I had so many people tell me to disinfect and wait and all that good stuff too!

no actually, hardly anyone has said anything to me about it.

Everyone knows what a freak I am though...

They probably just all assumed I'd cover all the bases.

No mostly my BF just thinks I need to mourn longer... I will never be done mourning the loss of my precious ones though.

Could you volunteer at the local shelter so you can see some fluffies?

Also, how does fostering work? You don't have to use your own money for that do you?

I can certainly relate to the cost of all those vet bills: we've spent literally thousands of dollars in the past year alone, to keep our furbabies healthy.
It's one of the reasons why we're not taking in anymore strays at this point: we just can't afford it, nor can we take a risk of exposing Geronimo or Winchester to anything contagious before we know for sure if another furbaby might possibly be carrying any diseases..

My heart goes out to you, Saya.
I know how miserable I'd be too, if I didn't have my precious furbabies with me to share the holidays with. They're such a big part of your life.
But I think you're probably doing the right thing for now...

It is hard to make that decision to get new ones, and my Husband told me the exact same thing, but ya know how I am... You tell me know and it means yes! LOL

Im glad you got your one furbaby to keep you company and I agree that the mourning never ends! Its not like they took just a piece of your heart but the whole darn thing!!!

with this particular rescue, yes, you have to use your own money. Some rescues are better funded and will pay for food and shots, etc. But mostly you pay for it all yourself and then receive it back in the form of an adoption fee once you find a good home for them.

Well, when we were catless for about 3 months...(hard to believe now...) I spent a lot of time online looking for the perfect kitty.

I am sorry for the way things have worked out, I'm not adopting another after Tiger's loss due to lack of funds, i am lucky that the rescue i foster for cover everything though, it is a shame the one you contacted don't do that. Fingers crossed this next month isn't too hard for you.
