An 11 year old girl was walking home at 1am and was abducted and sexually assaulted.

Why was she allowed out at that time of night!?

I'm sick at the thought that there is some guy out there that would do something like that. But I'm sicker at the thought that this girl was out and about at that time of night all by herself!!

"Why was she allowed out at that time of night!"
is a very good question.

Hope they catch the guy that did it.

That's horrible! I'm curious why she was out walking so late at night as well?.

Late at night, early in the morning, middle of the day. These sexual predators don't care what time of the day it is. I remember about 30 years ago a girl doing a paper round was raped right in front of a block of flats. This was very near to where I lived at the time. She was only 11 years old. No-one heard her calling for help. This was about 7 in the morning.

As to why this girl was out at 1 a.m. - there could be many reasons. She could have been at a sleepover, had a row with her friend and run off. She could have even been sleepwalking. I am wondering why she took a lift from a stranger, when children much smaller than she know about stranger danger.

What a nightmare for this girl and her parents. I think it's pretty hopeless to say her parents are at fault. I blame the sexual predator and his ilk. The man here is to blame, not this poor girl.

No one said the girl is to blame.

However, answers need to be found as to why an 11 year old child was allowed to be roaming around the city at 1am in the first place.

11 year old walking alone at night? Certainly I think it should be investigated as to how that happened. I also think that if any adults allowed this child to walk alone at night they should get into trouble. And accepting rides from unknown men doesn't sound like a good idea to me even when it's not at night.

They caught the guy But haven't released his name pending charges.

I am glad they caught him.

They are now saying she was walking around at 3 a.m. and walking to a friends house from a roller skating rink - either way that is much too late for a child to be outside by themselves.

They released his name today

There are also calls to charge her guardians although police will not comment on her living arrangements, according to the articles. While I am not saying she deserved it for being out at that time at all, there definitely needs to be some answers as to why she was wondering around in the middle of the night by herself in an area she doesn't live in.

I don't think an adult woman should be walking alone at night, let alone a 11 year old child.
If her guardians allow her to be walking alone at night, then I would think at the very least they should be changed.

Now see, when I first started reading the thread, I was thinking that it would be very possible that she could have snuck out of the house, or run away, or other plausible reasons that the parents didn't know she was out on her own. I remember sneaking out of the house, by myself, at that age. My parents didn't know I was out.

But if they KNEW she was out, which it sure seems like they may have, then they should be punished as well.

As for the thing that did that to her, I hope he gets more than the guy who sexually assaulted his daughter on a web cam - 4 years. Both of these things deserve a special place in hell.
