Fred has started this "demanding" phase. When we eat dinner he climbs up onto the table (he actually figured out if he hopped onto the chair he could get to the table) and he whines and meows for people food! We arent giving him any but he is pitiful. He also gets mad if god forbid we go into a bedroom and shut the door leaving him out. He will meow outside the door demanding to be let in. If we go to the bathroom a little paw will appear under the door as if to say "hello? I'm out here and you SHUT THE DOOR IN MY FACE!" Same with eating in the morning. He will run up and down my body meowing until I get up and feed him and he doesnt shut up until his food is out. This boy is going to ask for his own room next!

*smile* Fred sounds like a typical little boy-kitty...they are so funny.

The only way I got mine to stop begging for people food when we eat is to feed them at the same time we were eating. We are all in the same room, typically the kitchen, so they don't feel "left out" and are too busy focusing on their own meal to be jumping around begging for ours.

I have heard it said that "Cats are little alarm clocks with no snooze button". *smile* Mine wake me in the morning as well - this morning, I awoke sputtering from having a particularly rude Siamese butt in my face. Calypso, my naughty one...*sigh* What's a mother to do??? *grin*

Just make sure Fred has plenty of toys and stuff to play with, and perhaps if the mood strikes, a companion kitty - in theory, this is supposed help to lessen his dependence upon you and your attention for his playtime.

Let us know how things are going and thanks for posting!

I worked a twelve hour shift last night. The girls were at their Dads so his Heighness Frederick had to be home alone GASP!!!!! He paid me back this morning. I tried to sleep and Fred the Fool no matter how many times I put him on the floor to play would get on top of the desk and take a graceful swan dive onto my stomach over and over again. I put him outside the bedroom and he proceeded to whine until I openned the door and let him back in only to start his revenge all over again. I hear a click click click.. he is biting my pager. The battery is low and it is beeping so he thinks its alive. This wild man........what AM I going to do with him! Matter of fact I hear the wild pitter patter of paws in the hallway so something tells me dorkboy is up to no good. Gotta run!

I can't help but smile
and think someone else out there has one like me. Yes they are exhausting however I would not change it for the world.

I don't know what kind of feeding schedule you have your little one on. When my little boy Loki first arrived I used to feed him a little wet food morning and night and free feed him dry all other times. Well he started to wake me up at 4AM in anticipation of his breakfast. That was definately out of the question. So, we made a small change, now he gets wet only in the PM and dry food is left out all other times. Now whenever he is hungry at night or in the AM he just wanders into the kitchen and stuffs his face.

Loki also hates it when someone closes the bathroom door. He will literally wait outside until you come out again. I guess I don't blame him being cut off from the Litterbox like that...

Saturday mornings are the worst. I am gone 12 hrs a day during the week and he is home alone. So on Saturday mornings he become soooooo needy - who can blame him and another cat is not an option at this time -, he follows me everywhere, wants constant loving/attention and he is very vocal on top of it. If I go upstairs and he is downstair he sits on the bottom stair and screams his head off until I call him or actually come to see him - then he is the happiest camper. He usually gets it out of system by about noon. Then I need a NAP!!!!

I guess these are trial and tribulations of monther hood.

Best to you and your little fluffball.

First off I would like to say the name Fred for a kitty is the best. It is so cute and almost making him human!!

My cat, though a female, did the exact same things as what you have described Fred doing. It is exhausting, and very frustrating. However I was cracking up :laughing2 at the thought of this little kitty diving onto you so early in the morning. I sympathise with your frustrations, and unfortunately they will continue to demand from you all of their little lives. My Lily will be 4 this October and she has just perfected the demands!

Good luck to you!

 Reminds me so much of my Sateycat. He used to stay on the back porch (copletely enclosed) with his brother, but we'd let them into the house all day. He would come directly to my bedroom and put his paw under the door and pull on it, trying to open it. He stays in my bedroom now, and my room isn't MY room, it's Satey's room, and he lets everyone know who's boss in there!

Satey, too, walks all over my sleeping body when he is hungry. The only difference is that Satey weighs in at 14 lbs! I have these pawprint-shaped bruises all up and down my body!

I wouldn't have it any other way, though
