Red has really scratched up my hand lately with his biting. He doesn't even try to scratch me (it wouldn't work since I put softpaws on him anyway).

How do I discourage him from attacking my hand and arms all the time? My hand is starting to look like I've been punching rose bushes.

I received an awesome tip from GoldenKitty45 when Ares had taken to attacking my feet. Take some Bitter Apple Spray ($5.00 at pet stores or Walmart) and wet a paper towel with it. Rub it on your arms and the tops of your hands. When Red goes to bite, the taste will be unpalatable and he will be hesitant to continue. Then try playing with him with another toy like a wand. (Also, never use your hands as toys.) You will have to reapply the spray daily for proabably a week or so, but I bet it will essentially take care of your problem. This technique reduced attacks on my feet by 90%. (Now Ares has quit play biting me altogether, but this is due to having his new playmate, Hypnos.) Good luck!

Every time the cat tries to bite, give the cat a plastic straw to bite on.

Another thing to do, when you are petting them and they bite you stop petting them or giving them any sort of attention. If they are on your lap push them off and if they come back push them away. You can also say no when you do this, they know what you mean!

Yeah. I've been doing that, as well. When I am petting him and he bites, I immediately stop and move my hand out of his line of sight and stop interacting with him at all. If that doesn't stop him, I push him off of my lap.
