Well I must have bad luck right now. After getting smacked in the face last Sunday one would think I'd be good for a while. Nope yesterday I got bit in the back of my leg. It's really not bad. It's a very superficial wound, but I still can't believe he bit me (differnt cat from last week). He tends to be a little crabby & does smack our legs all the time (he's declawed). Yesterday just out of the blue he hit me & bit my leg. I still can't believe it. He's crabby, but he also likes attention. I'm sort of wondering if it was the number of kids around yesterday. He did nip at someone else another day that there were kids around. I'm thinking it's the kids he's not fond of. I'm fine and so is he. No need to worry we would never put him down for this small little bite. We just need to be more cautious about who we alow to adopt him.

We have a couple of biters like that in our rescue. They are really sweet cats until they get tired of you messing with them and they let you know that.

The other day I had a collision with our cat Sushie while she was trying to jump across the shelves. She smacked right into my face, knocking my glasses off, & using my nose to grab onto! Ouch!

Thankfully shes not a biter though, hopefully those cats stop biting you...

We've actually got one that we have decided not to adopt out. We've got a big cage for him that he stays in and is away from the public. He has bit many volunteers very badly. I'm not sure what is wrong with him, but he bites while being petted & purrs the whole time. He's already 12 or 13 and we are not comfortable adopting him out. Since we are a bunch of crazy cat people, we all love him and he gets out every day & as many pets as we can before he bites.

Looking back at my original post I guess I didn't make it super clear that this was a cat at the shelter I voulneteer at.

Over-stimulation OR a sore spot touched while petting. Keep an eye on where you are petting when he tries to bite. Is it always the same place? Keep an eye on his body language too. Often the tail starts moving faster or the ears go back just before the bite.
