Hi! There'll be a house guest staying for a month in about 2 weeks time and I am a little concerned for my kitty. She's about 10 weeks old now and although she is not terrified of strangers, she has not been around people that much. The only person she has close contact with is myself and my bf.

So now that a visitor is coming, I wonder how she will cope. What are steps needed to ensure that my kitty is comfortable and also at the same time, my visitor will have a pleasurable stay with us.

TIA!

I would not worry about your guest staying. The kitten will adjust. Within a few days they should be more curious as to who this person is. I'd be more concerned if the guest was an animal lover or not.

Do they have pets? Are they quiet or loud? If you have ground rules about feeding, etc. for the cats, then be sure they know what they are. If the cat is fed at certain times or can't have certain foods, let the guest know.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Our cats were feral rescues, and they were terrified of strangers when my MIL came to visit for two weeks. They hid, and we expected that. We just told her not to feed them and to ignore them - let them get used to her in their own way and time. A couple of our braver kitties came out, sat a few feet away from her and stared at her. If she tried to make friends or reach out to them, they'd scatter. When she finally ignored them, they'd come up to sniff her - and finally Spooky (our bravest now!
) rubbed against her leg and turned her butt to her.

Just make sure you tell your kitty someone's coming, and she'll be just fine.
I always talk to the cats to let them know what to expect.

She'll do great.

The visitor is a dog person, he has 4 dogs and has kept them since they were puppies. But he is not a cat person at all, having being bitten a few times. When he called the other day, he mentioned if my kitty bites! Well, from what I observed so far, kitty only bites me and my bf and will be extremely nice to strangers! LOL!

I'll be sure to lay down so ground rules when he arrives. He's a college student, visiting during his winter break. I sure hope that all will be well.
