I have a super sweet story --but it may be a little long--but I think it is worth the read!
My wonderful husband sang Cross My Heart to me during our wedding. As far as a dance goes--this is the really sweet part--I wanted to have a first dance and have dancing during our reception, but because we were married in a baptist church (and had the reception there too) they would not let us dance. I tried every way I could think of to compromise with the pastor, but he wouldn't budge--no dancing in the church. Paul knew how disappointed I was, so on our way to the limo, as we were leaving, he stopped me and we had our first dance outside of the church. He had it all set up and surprised me with it. He even had the grooms men standing around us just in case someone tried to stop us. He is so wonderful!!
We danced to Everything by Lifehouse. I still get emotional every time I hear that song!!

The Jackson Five - I'll Be There

My husband picked it. He thought these lyrics were just right for how he felt for me.

I'll reach out my hand to you
I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name
And I'll be there,(chorus) I'll be there

And, ohhhhh
I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength; I'll keep holdin' on

I couldn't tell you what song we danced to because the DJ screwed it up! He had 3 songs to pick from even though when they called me for the final details I did give them my final pick. It could have been "Where Are You Going" Dave Matthew Band or "Come Away with Me" Norah Jones or "You and I" Michael Bubble. My final pick was Norah Jones. What really irks me is that our DJ was running around asking if people needed drinks, when we wanted to cut the cake, how to do the anniversary dance and not once did he stop and say "I have several songs for your first dance, which one should I play?" And to top it off... he played SOME Dave Matthews song but NOT the one I picked and I was so distracted by the
job he was doing that I don't even remember what he did play! I provided them with HOURS of music I wanted played and they pretty much disregarded it. I complained to the company and they let him go but they didn't do anything else to compensate us for his horrible job.

Hey, I used that song for the procession of my wedding party. Of course, it was played on a lone acoustic guitar... instrumental only.

Im not saying we were idiots for dancing to the song! I love the song still. Im saying we were idiots to even get married. I forgot to say we are now divorced.

We have no idea what its gonna be, and we're running outta time to figure it out!

Rob likes to sing Gerry Rafferty's "Right Down The Line" to me sometimes though

You know I need your love, you got that hold over me
As long as I got your love, you know that Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life, I had no doubt in my mind
And itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s been you, woman, right down the line.

I know how much I lean on you, only you can see
The changes that Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve been through have left their mark on me
Youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]ve been as constant as the Northern Star, the brightest light that shines
Itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s been you, woman, right down the line.

I just wanna say this is my way
Of telling you everything I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of telling you that everyday Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m loving you (so much more)

‘Cause you believed in me through my darkest night
Put something better inside of me, you brought me into the light
Threw away all those crazy dreams, I put them all behind
And it was you, woman, right down the line.

I just wanna say this is my way
Of telling you everything I could never say before
Yeah this is my way of telling you that everyday Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m loving you (so much more)

If I should doubt myself, if Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m losing ground
I wonâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t turn to someone else, theyâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]d only let me down
When I wanted you to share my life, I had no doubt in my mind
And itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s been you, woman, right down the line.

We're getting married on March 29!
We're going to dance to our song for our first dance- "Heaven"- Bryan Adams. We're also planning to dance to another one of our very favorites- "Kiss to Build a Dream On" - Louis Armstrong
I can't wait!!

Oh! We had a Spanish student from Madrid visiting us for the summer 5 years ago and we took her to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. There was Jefferson Starship, Marty Balin, singing "Count on Me" and "Miracles." For free! I was in 7th heaven!
Ahhhh...Marty Balin's voice....what a treasure.

This was mine we were marred 07-07-07 and it was just perfect and us.
True Companion - Marc Cohn

Baby i've been searching like everybody else
Can't say nothing different about myself
Sometimes i'm an angel
And sometimes i'm cruel
And when it comes to love
I'm just another fool
Yes, i'll climb a mountain
I'm gonna swim the sea
There ain't no act of god girl
Could keep you safe from me
My arms are reaching out
Out across this canyon
I'm asking you to be my true companion
True companion
True companion

So don't you dare and try to walk away
I've got my heart set on our wedding day
I've got this vision of a girl in white
Made my decision that it's you allright
And when i take your hand
I'll watch my heart set sail
I'll take my trembling fingers

And i'll lift up your veil
Then i'll take you home
And with wild abandon
Make love to you just like a true companion
You are my true companion
I got a true companion
True companion

When the years have done irreparable harm
I can see us walking slowly arm in arm
Just like the couple on the corner do
'cause girl i will always be in love with you
And when i look in your eyes
I'll still see that spark
Until the shadows fall
Until the room grows dark
Then when i leave this earth
I'll be with the angels standin'
I'll be out there waiting for my true companion
Just for my true companion
True companion
True companion

We didn't have a "first dance" or any dance after the wedding (it was a small wedding and reception at my parents house), but our "song" was Right Down the Line by Dan Fogelberg.
