Stiff, aching joints

When we arrived in Australia, I had swelling in my ankles from the plane trip. As it went away, my right ankle was still feeling stiff.

Since then, all my joints have gotten stiff and achy and I can't figure out why. My knuckles, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles and even my toes hurt. Going up and down stairs hurts my knees, ankles and toes. It's worse when I first wake up, and gets a bit better, but it's the end of the day now, and I'm still aching. After sitting down for even 30 minutes, I feel like my whole body has seized up.

Anyone know what could cause that? Could it be something weird associated with travelling? I won't be back in the US for another 2 weeks, so not sure if it's worth seeing a doctor before then.

Any ideas??

It could be something reactive... I suggest you get in to see a doctor and get blood tests soon -while you're still swelling and may show something more definite. Then, if it's not an infection, you will have the blood tests for any follow up you need to do when you get back.

Stiffness and swelling, especially in several joints is not good. What's you're family history? Non osteo arthritis? Psoriasis, anything else auto immune? If you don't know you should use this time to ask around.

I hope it's nothing awful, but with your other health problems it's not something you want to put off.

I've heard of that where if you're on the plane too long that you'll suffer stiffness and ache. Mainly on the long plane rides (such as yours) health experts recommend some exercises you can do from your plane seat. It won't prevent the stiffness, but will help reduce it.

It the symptoms last too much longer though, I'd say go see a doctor about it. Could be something else and the plane ride may have "triggered" It.

Thanks guys. i was no more stiff this morning when I woke up (yesterday morning was worse), but I'm feeling it more in my fingers (typing is rather uncomfortable), and knees in particular.

My cousin had some sort of arthritis thing last year actually, I might check what she had. I might try to get in to see a doctor this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
