Hello again ladies! It's been about a year and a while since I've been around the boards. I first wrote about a stray named Stumpy that we had who gave birth. Well, now we have Quindim. Quindim is my favorite girl in the world. She came to us about a month 1/2 ago, I presume someone dropped her at our doorstep because they know that C & I take in stray animals, fix them up and get them to good homes. Well, she's well and truly pregnant. When this is over she will be spayed. She's a keeper and I don't want to help add to the world of unwanted animals.

This is the thing, the past 12 hours have been nerve-wracking. For me. LOL I think about 4 this morning, her mucous plug came out. For the past 2 days she's been alternating between pacing the floor, sleeping nearly on top of me, licking herself continuously and hanging out in the kitchen. I think time is drawing near for the littles to make an appearance. I'm not sure that I need any advice, I'm just anxious, possibly more so than she, that they are OK and healthy. As we live in Brazil, good vets are few and far between. This is why there are so many strays on the streets down here. I have a contact as an emergency vet, but nothing for regular. It's just not available where we are. When she is spayed, we are taking her to another city to have it done.

So, any advice how to be less stressed out? She's happy, she's not in pain, I'm thinking that the contractions, if they are starting, are far apart. I think I just need to be around other people who have been there and went through the experience of the waiting game.

Thanks for reading.

Meanwhile my fingernails are getting shorter, she's just sleeping and eating and generally being restless. And the mucous plug? I'm thinking that wasn't what it was and I was seeing something? This is the thing, she is so big that it's very hard for her to lick in that region. At that time the other morning I was very sleep deprived and there was a chance that it could have been a little poo that got there? *roll eyes* So, I've been paying attention and I helped her out with some warm water and a washcloth. She's clean back there, just a little puffy. All I know is that the babies are carrying on in there like it's Carnival and they're on their own little Sambodromo. You can plainly feel 2 on either side and I think it's safe to assume that there are at least 2 more in the middle due to her size. She is so large. Poor thing. It was so hot here today that she couldn't find a cool spot, so I went into the bathroom, turned on the cold water in the shower so the tiles on the floor would get cool. She spent the rest of the afternoon and evening in there. Pray these little ones make an appearance soon.

It's so hard to know when it will happen! Some cats pace and are restless for several days before. Some cats (like mine) show no symptoms at all. One thing is that you can usually feel them moving for about 2 weeks before birth. Their temperature goes down in the 24 hours (I think) before birth, but I've never been brave enough to put a thermometer in a pregnant cat (or any cat for that matter, LOL!) Best of luck!

Its good to hear that the you can feel movement though... That way you know the babies are okay in there! How long have you been able to feel them move?

They've been quite active for a while now. I'd say at least a few weeks. One day the last of Nov. I was laying with my hand on her tummy and there was a little tiny movement. Now when you look at her as she sleeps you can see the bumps of heads or butts go up and down. LOL kluchetta, I'm definitely not going to stick anything in her pooper. *chuckle* I think she's far more uncomfy than she deserves to be as it is. I know that she's near the time, because the babies have really kicked it up a notch. I know what you mean about at least they're ok in there, glitch. I think she's getting tired of me fussing over her all the time. I just gently lay my hand on her side or tummy. I'm just over protective I think. My girlfriend says that I'm nearly as pregnant in my head as Quindim is in real life. I just love her so much and want everything to be ok.

Hmm, if you've been able to feel them for that long is there any chance that she could be overdue? Do they look like little Aliens rolling around in there when you look at them? hehe

Well, we're averaging that she got pregnant around the 18th of October? So we'd be about right on target now. Tomorrow will be around 61 days or so. My time line may be skewed on how long I've been able to feel them. I've been so excited about her having the babies that I think I've not kept the most accurate time table about these things in my head.
I'm an English (ESL) teacher and we just broke for vacation last week from a very hectic month before. So now that I've had more time with her, I'm noticing many more things. And come to think of it, it does look like some kind of Alien being moving around inside.
We just watched all 4 of those movies the other day. God, now I'll have nightmares. LOL

I know!!! Coupled with the fact that they "ripple" when they are having contractions, that has to be a sight. This is going to be my first time really seeing kittens being born. I was busy the last time with Stumpy, moving her inside from a torrential downpour and getting everything set up. Carla got to watch one happen. It's going to be an experience, I'm sure.

I'm thinking that's the truth. I am so excited to see just who she's got in there. Luckily for us, we have homes for everyone to go to later. I would love to keep all of them (C would to, though it's murder to get her to admit it), but right now we don't have a big enough place. But for the first 10-12 weeks, they're mine and I'm so excited to meet them. *chuckle*

Hey ladies! Sorry for anyone that was following this if it seemed I just fell off the face of the earth. We lost our connection for about 2 weeks. Yes, the wonderful phone company, I just love them.

Anyhow, we have 4 new little ones! Quindim delivered around 11 am on Dec. the 20th. It was very fast, about 1 1/2 hours and they were all here and all nursing. She did really well. I was very proud of her. We have 2 girls and 2 boys. We are keeping the little boys and we have owners for the little girls. I'm going to go on over to the picture part and give you all a chance to see them.

I kind of want your take on what you think Nikita is. He has many markings of a tortie, but I know that male torties are quite uncommon. I am certain that he is a boy
I just don't know how you would accurately describe him. So any suggestions will be a great help.

Sorry again if I kept anyone hanging. We are having a ball and they are such a joy to have around.

Yay!!! When Elsa had kittens I had trouble for quite a while distinguishing the brown tabbys (boys) from the torties (girls).

Well, we are 99.999999999% sure that he is indeed a boy. We're going to be going to the vet soon. *nod* We found a very nice one right here in the city. So, we're going to take advantage of it and not have to travel so far to get vet care.

*squee* I just love them so much!!! They are really amazing little babies. *love filled sigh*
