Twice. Both times after the guy ate some of my home made apple pie. One was in jest; the other half-kidding. They were co-workers, not boyfriends!

They say a way to a man's heart is through his stomach!

Scott proposed to me back on St. Patrick's Day (our 5th anniversary)...that's the ONLY proposal I hope to ever have!

Twice... but neither one arose from the right emotions.

The first was from Michael, who had been my best friend during high school. About a year after graduation, he came to my house and informed me that either we were getting married or we would never see each other again.

I was so timid and naive back then that I said yes. I'd had four dates in my entire life -- none of them with him. A few years into the marriage, Michael finally came to peace with the fact that he was gay, so we divorced amicably.

The second proposal was from Rush, my former significant other, who is still (almost 20 years later) my best friend in the world. We had been cohabiting for four years, and I had come to understand that as much as I loved him, I wasn't in love with him... so I sat down with him and said I felt we should go our separate ways. He was stunned, protested, and then was quiet for a few minutes. Finally, he said, "You don't want to get married, do you?"

I didn't. Later, I put Rush together with an old high school friend of mine, and they now have a wonderful 14-year-old son, and I dearly love the whole family -- dogs included.

Just once, on July 29th of this year!!
(both of our birthdays!
) I accepted of course, he's a wonderful man! We're getting married this comming March. I can't wait!!

My only complaint is he was soo nervous he forgot to get on his knees to propose
It was kinda cute! Totally unexpected! I had waited so long i almost gave up on him asking. I can't wait to marry him! I love him to pieces

Five times. The first three were from my three ex-fiancees...quite possibly the three biggest losers in the universe. While I was stupid enough to get engaged to them, my stupidity, fortunately, stopped short of actually marrying any of them.

The fourth time was my husband. After almost ten years together (cohabitating for nine of them), he came into the bathroom while I was showering and said "I've been thinking...if we're going to commit to buying a house together, we really ought to get married." (Aww...the romance...
) I was so shocked I couldn't speak...though I do still have the scar where I cut my leg shaving.

The fifth time was also my husband. It was about a year after the first one, and we had discussed the subject some since then. I was packing to leave for a Board meeting the next day. He got down on one knee and had the ring and everything. I answered him that time.

Just once, by my fiance almost a year ago
Only a short time until the "I Do's!"
I'm quite glad he is the only one who ever asked, too!

twice, one by my ex bf which was 2 and a half years ago (god that time flies) he left me for another woman that he had never met and now has a child with her (thank god hes out!)

And the second is Trav, we are getting married late next year and I can say that this is right, he loves my cats, he respects that i am crazy about cats, he is also a cat lover. Dare I say that he is crazy, moving to the other side of the world, leaving work and family and alot of friends just to be with me. I truly appreciate it, and i love it when we talk about our new house, kids and cat condos. He just has this spark in his eyes of happiness, even when he tells me he is going to build me a big cat tree.

Yes I love him, I really do

Once by my DH. I was so shocked I forgot to answer.
After about a minute of hugging and crying, he said, "uh, is that a yes?" We've been married for 3 and 1/2 years now...

I haven't been proposed to yet, I'm only 21. But my current boyfriend whom I've been with for 3 years has been hinting at it alot lately.

How about some input from a man?!

The answer is five times.
And here is some advice to all you women that make up 90% of this site:

Us men (at least me) enjoy receiving flowers at work. In today's cubicle environment, everybody is amazed to see a man receiving flowers at work. It just doesn't happen. But it happened to me, over and over and I sure did enjoy the attention.
