I think I have decided to feed my kitties just their high quality dry. I have been feeding the two of them each a half a pouch each morning. So can I just STOP and give them a dry breakfast at that time? Or what?

why do you want to stop feeding them the wet? trust me, i understand it greatly adds to the cost. the wet food mimics what they would eat in the wild and they need the moisture.
my damian always ate more dry than wet and ended up with a complete blockage in his urethra due to crystals and is now on a prescription diet after having a $1000 surgery. if it happens again, he would basically be made into a girl in terms of peeing to even better ensure it wouldn't happen again.
when they eat the wet, they eat less and less likely to get fat. my damian is quite fat (but i argue he is just fluffy, lol).
if you are really set on taking it away, please at least offer it to them a few times a week. if you take it away now, it will be hard to introduce it later on after they become adults and picky eaters.

If its just a short time, then you can feed just dry, till you have money to get wet again. I've done it for a few days when going to a cat show - Ling gets her bowl filled up with dry (and 2 water bowls) for the weekend. She's fine.

They do like the canned food, so if at all possible, go back to feeding canned with the dry.

Golden Kitty, do you 'normally' feed on a schedule, I do, which includes wet for on of my kitties (he is a glutton though and will eat dry without too much compaints)? I'm going away for two days so I was thinking of just doing what you said, leaving a big bowl full of food for him and a lot of water. I was just wondering if this would be a problem since he is used to a 3 meal a day schedule/

(usually my brother stays with them while I'm gone but he'll be in hospital)

well, I scrounged up enough money and had a coupon (buy 4 wet tubs of Meow Mix, get 2 free) and bought some this morning and I think I will be able to buy more on monday, so I fed them a "brunch" today instead of breakfast. And I will continue to feed them a wet breakfast.
I just consider stopping it because soon enough they will not be able to share a pouch or can, they will each need their own and that is going to cost me even more $$.
I guess I do what I can.

I feed one can per day - half in the morning and half at night for both cats to share. I put out 1/3-1/2 cup Orijen dry for the rest of their daily intake and they are both very healthy and certainly not starving.

lmunsie,

They normally eat twice a day (morning dry and evening canned). But it doesn't hurt to fill the bowl up and let them eat when they choose for a weekend. That's why I leave 2-3 bowls filled with water. If they choose to eat it all in one day, they won't really starve - as long as they have adaquate water, they are fine.
