My cat kyri never has accidents and about 2 days ago my one room mate notified me that she pooped and urinated on his bed, the night before this happened my other room mate decided that she didn't like the way the litter box looked and put some sort of 'organic' litter in...(my cat has used the same freshstep litter for 3 years). ...so that first 'accident' happened that next day, now the following day my cat pooped and urinated on the couch, i immediately changed the litter back to the old stuff and heavily washed out the box as well. (meanwhile my poor roommate who's bed was violated had been keeping his door shut)....5 mins after opening his bedroom door he noticed cat pee on his bed AGAIN. i don't know what to do!? is she sick...is this still from the litter change up? is it because someone else besides me touched her box?

someone please help!

First and very important is taking her to the vets. If this is a sudden behavior that also has you worried, it could very well be she is sick.
Please let us know!

When cats suddenly start not using a litterbox, 85% of the time it's a medical problem. Kitty needs to see a Doc.

Also, kitty pee and poop need to be cleaned so that there is no more smell for kitty, which means an enzyme cleaner MUST be used. Anything that's been soiled should be washed with an enzyme cleaner added to the laundry, and any couch or mattress or carpet that's been soiled must be completely SOAKED with the enzyme cleaner. If done properly, it will take several days to dry. If on a mattress, cover the area you've doused with the enzyme cleaner with a thick dry towel and then make the bed and let it dry naturally (don't use a hair dryer or something to speed the drying process).

You may want to consider getting a black light to find all the places kitty has peed outside the box. Any orange splotch you see in the black light is a place that has to be cleaned with the enzyme cleaner.

Nature's Miracle is an enzyme cleaner available at most pet stores or supermarkets. We use http://www.nokout.com

Good luck,

Laurie

A cat that suddenly is eliminating outside the litter box usually has a medical problem (like UTI). If its a male, get him to the vet fast - if he blocks and cannot go, he will die in a very short time!

Also frequent trips to the litter pan in a short time mean UTI. That's how I found out Charlie had a problem. And within a day he was at the vet to be checked out. Had I not spotted it immediately, he could have blocked and I would have a dead Ocicat!

I use "Nature's Miricle" to clean my two litter pans. I think it helps.
