The tree, which will stay illuminated until December 25, is proving a popular attraction, drawing tourists from all over the country. "I would love to have an eel like this at home. This is very nature-friendly," said visitor Harumi Yayoi.

No, what would be nature friendly is to stop harvesting them for food and for lighting up Christmas trees, and leave them in the ocean where they belong!!

I'm also very confused. Japan is predominantly Shinto and Buddhist based, why are they lighting up Christmas trees?

I didn't even realise it was the same person who posted about the glowing cats. You got me, i'm a loud mouth opinionated person

LOL I just noticed you too! Yeah that is puzzling isn't it, mabye it's just to attract the attention of the U.S. so we "buy" off their idea, I dont really know but I never thought of that before.

Yeah, I'd love to have one too but I can't properly house a fish (the electric eel is a freshwater fish from South America) that gets to over seven feet in length and can paralyze an animal as large as a horse with its charge.

I knew that eels were widely eaten but I'm not sure if the electric eel is considered edible.
