Does anyone know if there are any laser pointers out there with an on/off switch that actually stays "on" without you having to hold down a button? My fairly new laser pointer I bought for the cats at PetSmart doesn't work anymore....and the problem is the button. Sometimes, my finger starts to hurt when I'm playing with the cats since you have to hold the button down for the light to stay on. I'd like to find one that you can switch it on and you don't have to hold anything down!

My cats can actually hear that teeny tiny 'click' when you turn on the laser pointer. They come running the instant they hear it! You might look in some of the office supply stores for a laser pointer that stays on. I think they're kind of pricey though.

Here's one that I found at Staples.com for $17.

If you read the reviews on it, someone mentions using it with their cats!

Never heard of a laser pointer with an on/off switch but that would be great! Our fingers get sore after pushing the button for so long & then the button gets stuck too!
Hope you can find one somewhere for a good deal

John bought an LED flashlight with a laser light on it as well. He got it at an electrical supply store and it was only about $15 I think. It has an on/off switch which is really nice. It's exactly the same as a regular laser light except it's the size of a small flashlight.

LOOK what I just found!!!!

http://www.abeland1.com/RedLaserPoin...dOffSwitch.htm

I did a google search for "laser pointer on off switch". It was the second link. There seem to be more, but I have only looked at that one. And yes, I would be willing to pay $29 for it!!!

They're also on Ebay. Type in Atlasnova laser pointer. Make sure it's the 635NM model. That is the one with the on/off switch. They have some "buy it now" options for $24 with $5 shipping or some auctions that start at $19.95 with $5 shipping. It's all the same seller.

Ditto! The thumb on my left hand has been really painful. It dawned on me yesterday that it's the thumb I use to hold down the button on the laser pointer!

I didn't know you could get cheap ones at the dollar store, so I bought mine at a stationary store. I paid almost $30.00 plus 14% tax for it. Here is the one I have. It doesn't have a constant on/off switch. Wish it did for that price!

I have the pet one in the shape of a long bug. It's easy to hold so the button stays on - I play with Stumpy for ages with it, and I've never gotten a sore thumb!

that's my biggest peeve w/them... but i found a solution! i got this flashlight from Ace hardware... it's small enough for pocket or purse, extremely bright, & also has a laser built in! i've looked for it on their website, to link to, but can't find it... they called it a "CSI" flashlight, tho. it was up at the register.
this is what mine looks like, too!

I found that the ones from the hardware store for hanging picture rails etc work great, have an on/off switch that allows it to stay on and are fairly cheap

We have one like this and the kitties love it and I can stick it on the wall pointing up towards the ceiling and let them fight the wall

Oh wow! Thanks for the link. It looks like you can get it on amazon.com for about $8. Very cool deal! Question though....I only see one button on it. How does it work? One click for the flashlight, one click for the laser light, and then another click to turn it off?

Yep, that's it exactly. I love it, and the flashlight is very bright so it's perfect for when I have to walk dogs at night!

I've had the same complaint! My finger is dented every time they play with it and I've long wished for one that would stay on! Thanks for the tips!
There is another one out there, but the boys don't like it as well. It's called Bada Beam, and it's a laser light that has an on/off switch but bounces it off a mirror thing (looks like a little R2D2).

A switch would be nice, but part of the "fun" for Riley is when I let the button go for a minute and he starts looking around, trying to find the red dot, only to have it reappear behind him or similar.

For those of us with the "old fashioned" laser pointers--I just put a small piece of scotch tape over the button. It works like a charm! Then pull it off when the cats are done playing.
