It's so funny to read how common this behavior is. Buster does it pretty much every time after pooping. I always thought it was his unusual quirk because his sister, Holly Go Lightly never does it. Buster drives me nuts because in the process he knocks stuff down.

My George does this too, usually sending his litter (or other things....*sigh*) flying everywhere! Sometimes he will run and hop up on a chair, or crash into the chair if he doesn't jump off the floor in time. What a silly kitty!

Blossom does it sometimes leaving litter all over the bathroom. The funniest litter box thing she does is dig madly when about to do #2. She needs the litter just so before she squats. Sometimes squatting, digging, squatting until its just right.

Depends on the cat and the offending deposit.

RB cat Sphinx used to do it every time he left a 'stinky'. It must have been a relief. Lil' Jag has picked up the same exact habit even though she never knew him. Luvbu and Kuce do the same thing but not all the time.

Shadow does it after he pees. When he takes the two youngsters take off after him. I have hardwood floors in the hall, dining and living rooms so it sounds like a mini-stampede.

ha ha,

Luxor does this too, after pooping. He'll sit at the bottom of the stairs, his ears will go back, he'll meow his poop announcement, run up, go, then tear around the house.

Stoli is very sophisicated. He will go in the litter box to pee or poop and come out with his head held high no matter what it smells like. It's so funny to see him come sauntering out so proud with a piece of litter on his nose.

I think this is a prehistorical reaction of when they were once wild, They would leave behind a mass of fecal matter then run off to prevent being spotted by a larger predator, basically a defense mechanism to survive.

Yes Autumn runs around like crazy after using the litter box. She also does that other times also, from a sitting or standing position, she just bolts for no reason. Autumn is my crazy lil girl.

My Felix does it. I'll hear a funny little chirp and then he comes dashing up the stairs! LOL My wires never do it.

Utu and Tomu do that too.
Tomu always makes funny noises while running around, Utu just runs like crazy and if some other cat gets on his way he will jump over them and the others are like "wut teh f.. is going on?"

Utu also digs the litter like he's trying to get to China, but afterwards he will just scratch the walls of the covered litter box (Luna does that too).

Mine started doing it lately. Not every time, and usually during the day -- he'll freak out and run around the hallways and eventually torpedo himself up the cat tree. I'm surprised that thing hasn't tipped over.
