Some of you might remember my post about my husband's hernia patch that was put in 2 years ago and was recalled. Well, his surgery is tomorrow. The doctor is hoping they can just make 3 little incisions on his sides, find the patch, cut the plastic ring (which is the reason for the recall) and pull it out, but if the muscle is to attached to it, they may have to open him up all the way, cut it out and replace it. The first option is obviously the best both for pain and recovery time.
The scary part is, this is the first surgery like this the doctor has ever done. He actually told my husband he will be his "guinee pig". Since the patients weren't notified of the recall, there haven't been many of these surgeries done nationwide. DH's doctor IS highly respected and one of the best surgeons in the area so I'm not THAT worried...just, the guinee pig comment makes me nervous.
So, if anyone can spare some vibes for an easy, not to invasive surgery, I would appriciate it! (Yeah, I'm going to be a nervous wreck for the next few days!)
