I was wondering for those of you who eat pasta/noodles etc, do you cook it so it's aldente (just under perfect) or till it's nice and soft but still in one piece, or do you do it like me, you cook it till it's done, then cook it some more so that you can't pick it up on your fork and it breaks apart?

i'm not Italian so it doesn't bother me
if i'm cooking it for other people i will do it aldente, but if it's for myself then i like it really soft.

Don't worry, presentation is important to me if it's for others

I can't stand hard pasta! Which is why if I eat out and have pasta I only order Lasagna.

I like my pasta cooked until it's soft, but stays together and is not mushy. Same with rice. I know many say to use 1 cup of rice with just less than 2 cups of water so that the rice is a bit under cooked and 'fluffy'. But I add a bit more than 2 cups of water (about 2 1/8 cup), and I get soft rice that is still fluffy

I like it when it is soft. You know pasta is done if when you throw it against the wall, it sticks
My grandpa taught me that one, although he never did/does it himself.

Al Dente!!!! Eating mush is sacrilege! If my mother saw you eating pasta that was mush, she would apologize for giving you something she wouldn't feed to the pigs, and cook you another bowl!
