Okay, Butzie, free cat from shelter, has a heart murmur, her stomach is "delicate," she wheezes and her nose runs all the time. I got some great advice from this forum about lysine for the runny nose and called the vet yesterday. Vet was really not nice to me and kept doing a CYA about it always seemed to be a viral infection and if Butzie has cat herpes it is a viral infection. I was very nice to her, but I think that she thinks I am a "hypocatdriac."
So, we picked up the lysine yesterday but didn't give it to her - waiting for this mornings food. But last night when she was sleeping with me, Butzie started to lick and lick her chest and nowhere else. In between, she licked my hand. This is definitely not her usual behavior. Her coat looks mangy to me as well. I will not give her the lysine now because I don't want the vet to tell me that is the problem. Any suggestions other than I should find another vet? For goodness sakes, I know her son's name and how old he is. Butzie and I don't deserve this kind of treatment.
