I am really scared. I was petting Monster and I felt a lump on his back near his left shoulder blade. I plan on taking him to the vet, but does anyone know what may cause a lump? Its small and I can't tell if its fluid inside or if its tissue. He is 7 months old, neutered, has always been healthy to my knowledge. There hasn't been any changes in his behavior or eating habits. He has never vomited at all and his litterbox habits are normal as well. I know I have to take him to the vet and I am going to believe me I'm so worried, but can anybody give me any ideas on possibilities?

Do you have other cats? Maybe it's just an abcess from playing too rough.

We found a lump on Raven and it turned out to be a Fibrosarcoma. But Stimpy had mole/lump removed that was benign and hasn't come back.

I hope it's nothing serious.

I tried to move the hair when I first noticed the lump, it doesn't look like anything from what I can see. I was thinking abcess too and I'm praying it isn't anything serious.

Has your kitty been microchipped? I can't feel the chips on any of our other kitties, but I can feel Tolly's. It's right on the back of his neck, between his shoulder blades and is like a grain of rice under the surface of his skin. It feels hard and moves around a little.

No, he has not been chipped. and i am taking him in sometime next week, i have to wait until i have off from work. i really hope that it is a benign growth or something like that. as said before he has always been very heathly and has never been sick AT ALL so this was a suprise for me. i never felt it before and it seemed to have just popped up out of nowhere.

Sounds like it could be a knot where he got a shot. I had a dog that would form those and they would take a while to show up and also to fade away. I'll bet it's nothing to be worried about.

My G-ma's dog had something like that the other day... All of a sudden she found a lump and she took him in, they removed it and called it a hot spot, like were you get a shot or a scrape and the outside skin heals fine, but something on the inside doesn't and it creates a lump.

Good Luck!
