My Persian kittie got poop stuck behind one of his hind legs this morning. This is the 2nd time within a week that this has happened. Am I doing something wrong?

He's using a hooded litter box with "Nature's Best" litter, which he seems to like. The litter box even has a "crate" in front so he can wipe his paws to clean off the litters.

The one thing that I can see as a potential coincidence is that he just ate his dry food right before each accident. The first time was due to an upset stomach with loose stool (new dry food). But this morning's, he had solid poop with his usual dry food.

It took us hours to clean up the house each time, because he would run around the house with the poop stuck on him. What can we do to reduce reoccurrances. Help!!!

We like our kittie, and we really need help!

Take your kittie to a groomer and ask for a "sanitary shave." Tell them to only shave the privates. That will greatly reduced the problem and usually solves it. The problem is the cat has too much hair around the butt and it gets stuck in the fur before dropping in the box. I know... gross but you did ask!

Speaking of sanitary shaves, for people who get them, how often do those need to be done? (I have long haired cats who have this problem too...)

It probably depends on how fast your cats fur grows and how long and thick it is. When I had a cat that needed them, I only had to do it a few times a year.
