...okay, so the nickname actually ends differently in my rated R life.
My soon-to-be four year old cat Pudge had problems keeping hair on the base of her tail for most of her life.
Being my first pet ever (and unexpected), most of her kittenhood and part of her adult life has been in tandem with me learning/researching cat care, nuances, etc.
I had no idea of flea medicine, etc and being allergic to both fleas and corn (which was in every food available in my area...thankfully, I've since moved so that I don't have to spend $waytoomuch on PFD shipping anymore as far as commercial food is concerned), she has a bald tail-base dotted with painful-looking red bumps(corn), and a balding, itchy, scabby neck+chin (fleas).
I put her first on Felidae chicken and rice wet (then read up on carageenan), then raw because a lot of the other foods contained fish or too many veggies and fruits without explanation of their benefit for my liking.
She thrived on the raw, the best I've seen her been. Good breath, clean teeth and gums, retained her fur like a champ, noticeably more energy, very occasional hairballs, etc. The next 2.5 years were great. And then I moved.
Since the move, I have not had the time to feed her raw, and in the interim have been feeding her innova evo wet (yes, fish and potatoes, etc. I was a fool), with the occasional raw chicken and I awoke at the beginning of the week to "honk....honk....honkhonk.......honk...gag...licklicklick...honk..."
and, you guessed it: the silver-dollar-sized beginnings of a shiny bald butt, already covered in big, angry red bumps.
I have no idea what the new agressor is, and immediately cut out the evo (started back on the homemade raw diet), and now her hair is growing back and the bumps are gone. Success, except for one thing:
I currently work 11-18 hrs/day, 6 days a week. I'd LOVE to keep her back on raw indefinately, but right now that requires me waking up an hour earlier than usual (3 am), and I already get little to no sleep during the week.
This of course is a temporary schedule for me, but in the interim, does anyone know of an extremely simple, high-qualitied wet cat food that I can feed her?
Preferably fish-free, with one or two simple proteins (some form of bird meat) and minimal veggies (cranberries are ok, but I'd like a short fruit/veggie list)?
