And I thought my kitty was big! The last time he was weighed, Salem was 14 pounds. He's grown since then. He's as twice as big as other cats. When I see another cat, I think, wow that cat is really tiny! Then I remember that that cat's not tiny, I'm just used to seeing my great big cat!

Everyone at the vet's office knows Salem because of his size. I call him my panther because he's so big and black.

There was an incident in a vet's office near me last year. There was a new vet tech on board, and someone brought in a very large cat, much like the ones shown in these photos. The vet tech carried the animal to the back of the clinic (there was no carrier) and 3 hours later the cat was dead. The reason, because of the weight and the way she had been carrying him, the cat had an internal rupture and died. It was very sad for everyone.

Holy cow! That is horrific beyond words! How in the world must she have been carrying the cat that it would cause a rupture?!

If you look at the first picture in this thread, she was carrying him much like that, except no support under his backside. She basically tore his organs in half by doing this. Yes, she lost her job and yes the clinic got sued they settled out of court. She told me later she had no idea this could of happened and will probably carry that load of guilt with her for a very long time.

LOL...that's a good one. You know....they are all pretty good about not making the counter a habit, but somehow it's hard to keep this big lug off. I just threw my hands in the air and gave up

He is beautiful! I love big cats. He does not look all that fat to me. He is just the right size for kitty hugs!
