Widget is never good at posing for pictures but I managed to snap a few today.

He is a Maine Coon but a thin one. No matter how much he eats (and it's alot) he always stays thin. I've been to a few vets over the last 6 years I've had him and they all say that it's ok, he's just a nervous boy. Which is true, he will loose all his hair if something upsets him lol. Everything scares him. Very jumpy! And agressive. (He's the one I have on Bach's Rescue Remedy.) When I bought him from a breeder, I was new to cats...did not know that the breeder was selling me a 3 week old kitten! Had to bottle feed him every 2 hours for 3 more weeks! The vet said I was very lucky and smart to have feed him pedi-lite <sp> the first night I had him to keep him alive.

He does not purr but he sure meowzors alot and churble speaks with me and my husband. He doesn't like to be "petted" unless HE wants it. So you can't approach him really but he will come curl up on you when he wants! He sleeps on my head this time of year just like when he was a kitten too so he's like a mixed up guy. Aggressive and aloof one minute, cuddling the next.

What a handsome kitty he is
He's lucky to have you to take care of him. I'm sure I know the answer to this, but what kind of breeder lets a bottle baby go?

Thanks all for the comments!

To answer your question...not a very good one. Widget was an "impulse" buy. I wanted a kitty so bad, and this was the only breeder in town that had kittens. I originally went there to buy another breed, though I have forgotten now what they were...but they were so expensive. I couldn't afford the breed I went out there to look at, I remember it was 800 dollars...(this is going to bother me now that I can't remember! LOL)

So the man showed me Widget and said well this little guy is $400.00. He told me he was a Maine Coon but did not have papers. I was naive and over whelmed with the "cuteness" factor of him that I agreed and took him home right then. It was when I got in the car I realized that he was too young to be sold to me but the deed was "done" so to speak. I had a cute baby in my arms and I drove home and immediately ran to the drug store to get pedi-lite.
The "mommy" mode in me took over and the next morning I took him to the vet and sure enough he confirmed he was 3-4 weeks old at the most.

Now that I'm more educated in the ways of cat ownership...looking back I bought from a potential "hoarder breeder" type place. The breeder was located inside a normal looking house from the outside but on the inside was the smell of cat urine, cats running everywhere, little furniture and cat food/water all over the floor. I wasn't allowed to go into the "baby" room where he would disappear in and out of showing me the different kittens.

Would I buy from someone like that now? No. Would I report them to the ASPCA...you bet. These are things you learn through life experiences and Widget sure has taught me some.

He reminds me of one of my strays, Jasper.

Geronimo is a "brat" too, but underneath it all, he's a little love-bug!
