Regional Difference?

I know that this is an absolutely silly thing to start a thread about, but I just have to know....

How do you pronounce "Suite"?

I always thought that it was supposed to sound like the word "sweet"
Since i moved out here to Ohio, I have seen countless commercials advertising "bedroom suites" but they pronounce it so it sounds like "suit"

IT DRIVES ME UP THE WALL!!!!!

Please help me with this, or I will go insane!!!!!

Where ever I have lived: GA, FL, LA (Louisiana, not Los Angeles), TX, and NE everyone has said "sweet". It wasn't until I lived on base in Germany (where there is a huge mix of people) did I hear "suit".

It's always pronounced "sweet" here.

I pronounce it "sweet" but know a lot of people who say "suit".

I've lived in different places around the country and have heard it pronounced suit, tho' I say sweet.

We pronounce Suite as "Sweet" up here

hubby is from ohio and he says suit, bugs me, I used to correct him but I have given up now!!! lol

I'm from Oklahoma and now in Virginia. Both places say "sweet".

Being from Maryland originally and now living in Minnesota - I still pronounce it as "sweet".

Suit is something you wear

When in doubt, use the "Hollywood test"!

Every time they say "Honeymoon Suite" in a movie or television show, they pronounce it "sweet"; so, I feel safe going that way

Suite is "sweet" here as well. But I do wear a suit sometimes to work.

Well, that's a new one on me! I've only ever heard it pronounced "sweet".

Everyone I know says "sweet." I've never heard anyone pronounce it "suit."

I am in the western central area of Ohio. I have heard "suit" in the commercials for several different furniture companies and each time I hear it, I find myself yelling at the TV

I'm glad that I am not the only one who finds the pronunciation odd.

We pronounce Suite, "Sweet" here in California I think those who call it Suit are mis-pronouncing it.

Always said "sweet", never heard it said "suit".
