Hello,
I found this site through catangels, which was given to me by someone trying to help out.
My cat, Spook. is almost 18. And has been a god-send in my life. I have been really sick a few times over the last 10 years, and without family in the area, Spook has been there in a way I can not describe.
I have had to have radiation treatment recently, and weather this caused the current events or not I will never Know. I had a "pill" in me that for lack of better wording, dissolved my thyroid. Soon after, Spook got really sick, "really" sick. During and for a time after the radiation, I was told to stay away from people, do not sleep with anyone (literally sleep-close contact for long period), and especially stay away from women with children or pregnant. I didn't think of Spook. Just that she was there during all this.
Sorry, I need to be shorter here. She ended up with hyperthyroidism. And I believe some other problems.
It cost almost $400 to take her to the vet. She is worth every penny of it and more to me, but I do not have much to start with.
Which brings me to the reason I went to Cat Angels in the first place. I was told that there were people there that would contact me and give some support and advice. I know a forum or an email/ phone call is not the same a a vet. But it would help. I was given the name and email of someone who was supposed to be able to even come by and see Spook, but it didn't pan out. I can only imagine the demand for people who are willing to give their time and help to others with a pet in trouble.
I don't mean to be so short and to the point, fact is I would love to talk about it. I just do not want to push anyone away who sees a long letter and does not have the time. But, that is it. I am looking for some one who thinks they can help me out here.
Spook is not hurting in anyway right now, but I am afraid that in time she will, and I will not be ready.
Thank you
BriaN
