I think I have a kitty clepto...

In the past three days, two plastic cat food can covers have disappeared. Socks have started to go missing...a pile of single socks (out of the laundry basket & missing their mates) was found under a radiator

I suspect it's Stanley (he's always been the one to go rolling about in the dirty laundry)...now I go into detective mode...and I wonder what suddenly brought this about.

Maybe boredom...time for an extra play session...

Oh, and I just noticed that I spelled "Kelpto" with a C...ugh.

Yeah, looks like someone needs constructive play time - I mean the cat!!!

Ah-HA!!! so the stash is under the radiator - good detective work!!! Now you'll know where to go looking when your Scrunchies, etc. start missing
I think it is soooo cute when the kitties "find" 'toys' and create their own secret stashing spot JC used to have a fascination with wrapped candies & cough drops - when he was little, he'd go into purses to snatch a cough drop (he realized the menthol scent meant cough drops )

Postscript...DH found some more socks under his pillow

Crazy little critter...added an additional 30 min play session for yesterday...he gets way more entertainment than I do

If only I could be entertained by my husband's socks instead of washing them. Come to think of it, maybe I should hide them so he has to do the laundry.

aww thats cute. i have a little klepto kitten myself! she'll go into my roommates room and take stuffed animals or slippers and bring them into my room. hmmm.. i should train her to take money or something

Occasionally we will find used tissues under the bed. Benson has weird taste. At least your kitty is a bit more normal.

Punky loves socks. Loves them. Steals them, makes a nest, & sleeps on them. Kneads on them. Will sit & "talk" to a sock. But he never takes the mate, always splits up pairs on me!

Cats are weird, I'll never understand them!

Niko tends to like items I keep in the bathroom... scrunchies, those exfoliating shower gloves, my cosmetic brushes (especially my kabouki brush, it's irresistible!) He doesn't steal/hide them, per se, but I find them strewn across the living room, ever so often, when I get up in the morning. I'm tempted to put up cameras to see what else he does when we're asleep.

It's official, Stanley loves his socks!! actually, not his socks, DH's specifically Caught him rolling around in the laundry hamper yesterday...now I know why he sometimes smells like a sweatsock Little wierdo

Check under the couch..I move the couch out every couple weeks and there are literally like 30 toys/lipbalms/hair ties under there

That's why you buy all the same socks! You will never leave home with mismatched socks!

when I was kid, we had a siamese cat named Casper.
Whenever you would be trying to put socks on your feet, he would come out of nowhere and steal them from you and take off running. I would go through 3 or 4 pairs of socks every morning!
Chasing him would do no good, cause if you caught him he would growl and never let go!

Didn't you know, that there's a kitty "black hole" in every cat household?!

One of my kleptos (I think it was Winchester) lost a candle several months ago: I still haven't found it. Something smaller I could understand not finding, but a candle?!

Geronimo has a washcloth hang-up: he'll pull one out of the laundry basket, and use it for a pillow. What a goof!

Just think how bored we'd be, if we weren't entertained by our furbabies!

I remember when Bagheera was younger, lots of socks went missing and I found a nest of socks with holes in them in the backyard. He ruined so many pairs of my brother's especially!
